Chapter 122: Attribute Glasses
“Don’t be nervous,” Bai Renzong said, gently patting Han Jiayi’s head to soothe her. “We’ve already started dating, so why are you suddenly so reserved?”
Han Jiayi nodded shyly, grasped Bai Renzong’s hand, and sat up. Together, they made their way down to the bathroom on the first floor.
By then, Bai Renzong had already brought down his toothbrush and cup from upstairs.
“From now on, let’s brush our teeth and wash our faces together,” he said with a smile.
Han Jiayi couldn’t help but laugh joyfully, nodding in agreement. “Okay…”
So, side by side in front of the mirror, they brushed their teeth in perfect harmony, sneakily glancing at each other through the reflection.
“Hehe…” Han Jiayi felt a rush of sweetness in her heart. How could this woman be so adorable? Brushing teeth together and feeling this happy!
Bai Renzong, too, felt a surge of pride: Look at my girlfriend, so cute…
After rinsing their mouths and spitting out the foam, Bai Renzong suddenly leaned in and kissed her on her rosy cheek.
Han Jiayi, surprised, covered her face and turned to look at him, while Bai Renzong wore a nonchalant expression.
“I’m returning the favor,” he said lightly, “from last night.”
In an instant, Han Jiayi’s face flushed crimson all the way to her ears. She pointed at him, both embarrassed and angry. “Shameless! Pretending to be asleep!”
“I wasn’t,” Bai Renzong countered, lowering his eyelids. “But with that little ‘smooch’ from you, how could I not wake up? Before I could say anything, you dashed off like the wind. What, scared of being caught after doing it?”
“N-no… that’s not it!” Han Jiayi stammered, covering her mouth. Caught off guard by his rapid-fire questioning, she had no comeback. She could only stomp her foot and scold him, “You! Can’t you cut me some slack? We’ve started dating, and you’re still picking fights with me!”
Bai Renzong couldn’t help but laugh, pulling her into his arms and gently stroking her head. “Alright, alright, no more teasing. Let’s make breakfast—I’m starving.”
“Hmph…” Han Jiayi pouted, shooting him a glare before turning to head into the kitchen.
During breakfast, Bai Renzong started a conversation.
“Next time we go out on a blind date…” He paused, then corrected himself, “Actually, we can’t call it that anymore. It’s a date now.” He continued, “How about we go to Yijiaxuan for dinner next time? Sister Xiaoxiao set us up; we should thank her.”
“Sure!” Han Jiayi nodded happily. “But it might be a few days; things will be a little busy lately. We just got upgraded to a new star, so there’ll be many new customers coming by. Plus, the Michelin folks will be sending over the second star’s emblem—we’ll have to put it up.”
Once the second star’s emblem was installed, Han Jiayi planned to take a photo and send it to Yang Hua, secretly feeling triumphant: Now we’re on equal footing, aren’t we? Letting you look down on me no longer!
“No worries. I’ll keep coming to the restaurant like usual, visiting you and grabbing a bite,” Bai Renzong replied, reaching out to gently tuck a stray lock of her hair behind her ear.
Han Jiayi loved this little gesture, her heart warm. Then she added, “Don’t forget the important stuff, okay?”
“I know,” Bai Renzong nodded. “Tonight, we’re going to check out a burger joint—a fan recommended it. It’s not affiliated with the Phantom Realm Group. For the rest of September, I plan to make seven videos: two released this month, and the remaining five in early October. Then in early October, I’ll go on a trip to explore some places and sort out the live streaming.”
“You’ve already planned all this?” Han Jiayi asked with a bright smile. “Since when?”
“Since the day you told me, ‘Get back to me this month,’” Bai Renzong replied earnestly.
Han Jiayi blushed. “You’re such a tease… I’m just stubborn, okay?”
“I like that about you,” Bai Renzong smiled, cupping her face and gently caressing it. “Now eat. It’s getting late, and as the shop owner, you shouldn’t be late.”
“It’s okay; there’s no business in the morning anyway,” Han Jiayi said with a soft smile, gazing at Bai Renzong lovingly.
Just then, Wang Bei suddenly pushed open the door cheerfully. “Xiao Bei is here!”
She turned to Bai Renzong and Han Jiayi with a grin. “I’m here to be the third wheel.”
“Third wheel? No way,” Han Jiayi chuckled. “We’re all so close.”
“Hmph, so many good things happening,” Wang Bei boasted. “Now that you two are officially together, let’s pick a time to go to Lao He’s place and shoot that unboxing video.”
“Right, about that…” Bai Renzong frowned. “How about this: next time Jiayi and I go on a date, I’ll come back early in the evening and record the unboxing video at Lao He’s.”
“Tsk tsk, you two are so sweet…” Wang Bei teased, covering her mouth.
“You too—find a boyfriend soon,” Han Jiayi reminded her. “You’re not getting any younger.”
Wang Bei blinked. “Jiayi, I got a boyfriend six months ago.”
“What!?” Han Jiayi exclaimed. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“You were single then. I was afraid you’d get upset,” Wang Bei muttered quietly.
“So that’s why you were still up at two in the morning that night…” Han Jiayi raised an eyebrow, then her face flushed deeply.
Don’t say these things out loud, silly girl… Bai Renzong thought to himself.
After breakfast, Han Jiayi greeted them both. “I’m heading out now.”
“Be careful on the way,” Bai Renzong reminded.
She smiled and nodded, humming a little tune as she stepped into the elevator.
“Don’t be so reluctant,” Wang Bei teased. “Don’t forget tonight’s food exploration, okay?”
“Don’t worry. Work is work,” Bai Renzong said seriously. “Xiao Bei, we’ll start live streaming next month. If you get any related messages, keep an eye on them.”
“Okay!” Wang Bei made a hand gesture and sat down in front of her laptop.
At that moment, Bai Renzong remembered something and checked his phone. Sure enough, the “Fifty Blind Dates” achievement showed “50/50 (Completed),” and the reward, “Attribute Glasses,” was marked as “Delivered.”
“Delivered?” Bai Renzong frowned, wondering, “Are they still in the mail?”
“Xiao Bei, do I have any packages today?” he asked curiously.
“You get packages every day,” Wang Bei replied as she responded to messages. “Want me to get them for you?”
“No, I’ll go myself,” Bai Renzong said, then went downstairs to the neighborhood courier station to pick up his packages. Sure enough, among them was a box with no sender or address, only the recipient: “Mr. Bai.”
Opening it, he found a box of contact lenses, but inside there was only one lens.
Carefully, Bai Renzong placed the lens on his left eye and blinked.
Surprisingly, there was no foreign body sensation; it felt like just a drop of eye drops.
Closing his right eye, he looked around at people. Various attributes floated above their heads: “Sly,” “Despicable,” “Honest.” But when he opened his right eye, the attributes vanished.
“This is really interesting!” Bai Renzong thought excitedly and decided to try out this ability.
He returned home and checked Wang Bei’s attribute values.
Her three main traits were: “Smart,” making up 40%; “Careful,” 20%; and “Organized,” 10%. The remaining 30% were “Other,” unspecified.
“Did you get everything back?” Wang Bei asked curiously.
“Yeah,” Bai Renzong replied, then went upstairs and opened his computer.
He discovered that not only could he see three attributes of real people, but even photos and movies displayed people’s attribute values—though not always three; some had only one or two.
Looking at a handsome singer in a music video, Bai Renzong muttered in disbelief, “Lust accounts for 70%, flirtatiousness 30%, everything else less than one percent… Really? I liked this singer, but turns out he’s like this! All a carefully crafted image. Pfft!”
However, after checking other actors and singers’ attributes, he could only sneer: The entertainment industry is rotten… No way am I letting my Mumu get involved.
Switching to other fields like content creators and streamers, it was even worse. Eight out of ten were no good—just acting out their personas, with few genuinely matching their true character.
Bai Renzong knew if he kept looking, he’d lose hope in the world, so he stopped.
Now he truly understood the meaning of “ignorance is bliss.”
But at this moment, the person he most wanted to see was, of course, Han Jiayi’s attribute values.
So after finishing his morning work at home, he came to Yijiaxuan.
“Old Bai…” Han Jiayi approached shyly like a little girl and greeted him.
Bai Renzong smiled warmly at his adorable girlfriend, then closed his right eye to take a look.
Three attribute values appeared above Han Jiayi’s head: “Strong-willed,” 30%; “Loyal,” 25%; and “Sincere,” 20%.
As expected of my Mumu—only positive traits. Bai Renzong felt comforted, then raised an eyebrow: Strong-willed counts as a positive trait, right?
He shrugged and stepped forward with a smile. “Mumu.”
Han Jiayi immediately frowned and pouted. “We’re dating already, and you still call me Mumu!”
“You have to call you Mumu because we’re dating now,” Bai Renzong asked curiously. “Doesn’t that make it more intimate?”
“You calling me that makes me feel silly…” Han Jiayi complained, twisting her fingers.
“Not at all. It’s really cute,” Bai Renzong said, holding her small hand and planting a kiss on it. “Does your shop have a couple’s set meal?”
“Y-yes…” Han Jiayi glanced around nervously, sweet but a bit shy. “Don’t do that. There are so many people watching.”
“Then we’ll order the couple’s set and eat together,” Bai Renzong said, gently stroking her cheek with a smile. “Hurry, I’m starving.”
“All right! Coming right up!” Han Jiayi replied cheerfully. For some reason, hearing Bai Renzong say “Hurry, I’m starving” suddenly gave her a burst of energy.
