Chapter Forty-Seven: The First Guest of the Pavilion of Myriad Phenomena
Liu Junhuai forcefully pushed Mo Sitong aside, summoning the Five Elements Chaos Blade. Its aura traced a strange arc, striking toward the beast. The blade's energy penetrated the creature’s belly, and as bloodied feathers danced through the air, its hooked claws tore through the protective true energy, ripping open its left chest and shoulder, staining its claws crimson with spurting blood.
Liu Junhuai fell backward onto the ground, and the Shadow Blade abruptly appeared beneath the beast’s belly. With a swift move, he stabbed both sides of its abdomen. In agony, the beast swept its single wing, several yards long, knocking Liu Junhuai’s body dozens of yards away.
He struggled to stand, desperately activating the Hunyuan Shield Cauldron. A golden aura enveloped him, drawing a surge of golden energy into his protective shield as he waited for the avian beast to swoop down.
Blood poured from his chest and abdomen, further exciting the beast’s bloodthirsty nature. With a piercing cry, it beat its wings twice, swiftly approaching.
The beast suddenly folded its wings beneath its belly, clutched its claws tightly, and its long, sharp beak—like a flying sword—plunged straight for Liu Junhuai.
Its deadly beak pierced his shield, and the massive impact struck his chest. At the critical moment, the cauldron’s lever retaliated, a golden beam striking with lightning speed, slicing the beast’s beak and slender neck cleanly in two.
The lifeless avian body, propelled by inertia, crashed heavily into Liu Junhuai’s chest, sending him flying more than ten yards away.
Everything happened in an instant. Mo Sitong, realizing what had occurred, screamed and rushed to Liu Junhuai, cradling his unconscious body and weeping bitterly.
A long gash split his chest, several ribs broken, fresh blood soaking his newly changed clothes, his breath barely clinging to life.
Mo Sitong frantically infused him with true energy, pouring all the Restorative Pills from her jade vial into his mouth.
At the decisive moment, Liu Junhuai had pushed her aside, facing alone a beast whose power surpassed his realm severalfold. This act deeply moved Mo Sitong, whose heart had just begun to awaken to love.
Though older by a few years, Liu Junhuai seemed mature and wise beyond his age in her eyes, possessing both bravery and a protective spirit.
He remained in deep unconsciousness, but his breathing gradually steadied, vitality slowly returning, and his pallor flushed with renewed life.
Unaware, after the terror had passed, Mo Sitong held Liu Junhuai and drifted into exhausted sleep.
Dawn soon broke, the thick fog dissipating under the morning sun. Feeling Liu Junhuai stir in her arms, Mo Sitong instantly awoke.
Watching his eyes move beneath closed lids, Mo Sitong’s gentle smile grew, unaware that tears streamed down her delicate cheeks.
The intense pain brought Liu Junhuai slowly back to consciousness; in his mind, the battle with the beast was not yet finished.
He struggled up in confusion, only to see Mo Sitong’s face, caught between laughter and tears.
Gradually recalling all that had transpired, Liu Junhuai gazed gratefully at Mo Sitong’s tear-stained face, wrapped his arms around her slender waist, and drew her tightly to his embrace.
---
Yesterday’s battle had left Liu Junhuai unable to use teleportation—doing so would have abandoned Mo Sitong to danger, yet it had cost him severe injuries.
Looking back, it still felt like a dream. That was a sixth-tier beast, its power equivalent to a Golden Core cultivator in the cultivation world. Though he relied mainly on surprise, his own strength had improved, leaving him somewhat excited.
He looked at Mo Sitong in his arms, affection and tenderness filling his heart. Though he was young in years, his mind was already that of an adult.
It seemed at barely fifteen he had three women in his heart, an odd feeling he could never shake.
Mo Sitong, sensing his thoughts, said, “Are Duoduo and Nini beautiful? They’re still young—you must take good care of them. Let me take care of you.”
“Then I won’t call you ‘elder sister’ anymore, I’ll call you Sitong,” Liu Junhuai replied, his tone full of tenderness.
“But we’ve only known each other for less than two days, and I’m several years older than you,” Mo Sitong said with a trace of melancholy.
“So should I call you ‘senior’ from now on?” he teased, then grew serious. “Sitong, I love your gentleness and kindness. Qualities like yours are extinct in the cultivation world. And as an orphan deprived of a family’s warmth, I need your gentleness and kindness.”
Mo Sitong gently stroked his face, saying nothing, but pressed her head to his chest, biting his collar.
Liu Junhuai pondered quietly for a while, then lifted her head gently. “Come, close your eyes, I’ll take you somewhere.”
He stood, collected the avian beast’s body, and, ignoring her startled expression, took her hand and entered the Myriad Phenomena Tower.
In a blink, they appeared in a second-floor guest room.
He realized then that bringing someone into the tower from outside could only be done via the guest room—and leaving was the same.
Mo Sitong opened her eyes, looking around in awe.
Liu Junhuai patiently explained everything, finally convincing her of the truth.
Knowing the old steward was waiting outside, Liu Junhuai led the still-dazed Mo Sitong out.
“Steward Zhiqiu greets the Lady of the Tower,” said the old steward, making Mo Sitong blush deeply, though she did not refuse the title.
Liu Junhuai had already explained the steward’s existence, but meeting him in person left her nervous, unsure how to respond to his greeting.
Liu Junhuai chuckled from the side, the blush on her face deepening.
After exchanging pleasantries, Liu Junhuai’s wounds still needed urgent care, so the old steward led them to the first-floor storage room.
Mo Sitong’s mind was overwhelmed as she gazed at the room filled with neatly arranged jade bottles.
---
Leaving Mo Sitong to digest her astonishment, Liu Junhuai accepted the Blood Lotus Pill from the old steward.
This seventh-grade healing pill emanated a faint, exotic fragrance. Liu Junhuai swallowed it in one gulp, then sat cross-legged, channeling his energy to absorb its effects.
As the pill entered his stomach, a torrent of refreshing energy rose from his dantian, spreading coolly through his meridians, nearly making him moan in comfort.
The medicinal power quickly dispersed through his limbs and bones, rapidly healing damaged channels and reconnecting broken fibers. Within a few breaths, his injuries were fully mended.
“A divine pill! Its potency is immense, and it can be completely absorbed within the body. Truly, an extraordinary medicine,” Liu Junhuai exclaimed as he rose.
“The Blood Lotus Pill is refined from Blood God Wood sap, Eight-Eyed Beast core, Cloud Sea Blood Lotus, and Millennium Fire Velvet Ganoderma. Last time, you brought back two vials—twenty-four pills. You’ll need to prepare more in the future; even in the Immortal Realm, they’ll be invaluable,” the old steward explained.
Mo Sitong, standing nearby, was amazed. “Junhuai, are you also an alchemist?”
The old steward smiled at her. “The Master of the Tower is not only an alchemist, but also a formation master and a craftsman. Lady, whichever path interests you, you too can cultivate.”
“I want to be an alchemist! That’s my dream,” she said, looking at Liu Junhuai with a pitiful expression. “Will you teach me?”
“Of course. We’ll start right away. I promise that by the end of today, you’ll be a first-level alchemist,” Liu Junhuai replied, leading her into the alchemy room.
He handed her the first jade tablet, thoroughly explaining the steps for refining pills. With a wave, he produced piles of herbs, sorted those needed, and guided her through her first batch.
Watching Mo Sitong produce several Origin-Nurturing Pills, the old steward spoke with astonishment, “Lady of the Tower, you truly are a genius in alchemy! Your first attempt yielded an eighty percent success rate, with pills evenly lustrous and clear patterns—these are top-grade. In my opinion, you’ll be promoted to second-level alchemist today.” He glanced at Liu Junhuai with a look of pride.
Liu Junhuai secretly gave a thumbs-up—the steward’s flattery was masterful.
Buoyed by the steward’s encouragement, Mo Sitong felt his sincerity and honesty.
“Junhuai, you and the steward go about your business. I’ll stay here and, when you return, I’ll be a second-level alchemist!” she said, waving her tiny fist.
The steward was secretly delighted. His purpose was to keep the Lady of the Tower busy, so he could urge Liu Junhuai to focus on cultivation.
At his suggestion, Liu Junhuai set up a time array, leaving Mo Sitong alone to practice.
