September Summary

Well, after a month of diligent writing, I still feel compelled to say a few words...

The book now stands at 150,000 words, with 50,000 in reserve. Clearly, “diligence” no longer applies. The stats for this book are rather poor—just over a thousand bookmarks so far...

This, in a way, highlights the problems inherent in the book. After all, everyone says that a well-written story can overcome any obstacle, but if the writing falters, perhaps I end up exactly where I am now...

September has been a busy month, with other matters demanding my attention. Still, I’ve managed to write three chapters a day and revise two more, spending three or four hours daily. Come on, praise me!

The original intent for this book was simple: I wanted to ride the trend, but it fell short -_-||. Stories in the Confucian cultivation genre aren’t easy to craft, and I haven’t managed any significant innovation. All I could do was attempt a civil service exam-themed Confucian fantasy, with the protagonist climbing step by step, displaying his talents, and progressing toward the greater path.

So, as you’ve seen, the upcoming story will push the main character to the peaks of the academic examinations—county, provincial, and metropolitan—striving to become the foremost scholar in the land.

Of course, this is a tale of immortals and demons; the title itself is “Slaying Monsters and Banishing Demons.” Therefore, throughout the protagonist’s journey and personal breakthroughs, I’ll weave in plenty of encounters with monsters and demons, allowing him to defeat them with poetry.

I hope this instills a sense of anticipation.

I’ve painted a grand vision and want to address some reader questions. If you pay close attention to my book, you may notice that earlier chapters are often refreshed. I almost daily review a chapter or two, revising based on your feedback.

I read all your comments carefully. I’ve wrestled with them, compromising on most, but some suggestions touch upon my broader outline, so...

Enough of such discouraging talk. Whatever you hope to find in a Confucian cultivation novel, I’ll do my best to present. The protagonist’s upcoming apprenticeship, the use of literary and spiritual power, the poetry sect, slaying monsters and banishing demons—all will be delivered to you. The outline now extends another 50,000 words, and I revise as I write.

Lastly, the National Day holiday is upon us, so don’t expect any explosive updates—maybe after it goes on sale (`へ´*)ノ.

Why not put down your phone and go explore the magnificent landscapes of our country? As for me, I’ll be at home watching you get stuck in traffic on the first and second, squeeze into scenic spots on the third and fourth, get stuck again on the fifth and sixth, and lament the end of the holiday on the seventh.
