Jiang Yunyao held the task card the director had sent over and tried hard to open her eyes wide enough to read aloud the words on it.

“Task 1: Prepare a heartfelt breakfast for the other person?”

After a few seconds, her mind finally caught up with the meaning of the words. She slowly turned her head toward Xie Yixing. “Are you going to eat breakfast?”

Xie Yixing was too sleepy to open his eyes. After a brief pause, as if he understood, he shook his head. “No.”

Jiang Yunyao mumbled, “I don’t want to eat either…”

A few seconds later, an idea sparked in Jiang Yunyao’s mind. “Let’s just sleep until noon, then we don’t have to eat breakfast!”

Xie Yixing: “...Good idea!”

With that, the two of them lay back down on the bed, clearly intent on sleeping themselves senseless.

[“Sleep until noon to skip breakfast? That’s classic Jiang Yunyao, nothing can stump her!”]

[“Even when they sleep, they look good… sniff sniff!”]

[“Hey, wipe your drool, don’t let it drip onto my new phone!”]

[“Are they here to film a variety show or go on vacation? This money is way too easy to earn!”]

The director felt this wouldn’t do—if all the guests were this lazy, how could they possibly film the show?!

So Jiang Yunyao and Xie Yixing were called back again.

After hearing the staff’s instructions, Jiang Yunyao apologized while stifling a yawn.

She sighed and was about to get out of bed to freshen up when suddenly she recalled something. She withdrew her foot and pulled Xie Yixing back as well.

Xie Yixing looked at her, puzzled.

Jiang Yunyao sat cross-legged on the bed, cleared her throat, and made a gesture as if holding a tray, extending it toward Xie Yixing.

“This is the sandwich I made for you. It has a love-filled fried egg and the tomatoes you like.”

Xie Yixing interrupted, “I don’t like tomatoes!”

“Okay, okay,” Jiang Yunyao quickly changed her tune, “It has cucumber slices you like and some salad dressing. How about you try it?”

“You’re so thoughtful!” Xie Yixing took the invisible sandwich, put it into his mouth, chewed symbolically, and said, “Very delicious!”

[“Are these two even mentally okay?”]

[“‘The King’s Breakfast,’ huh? Do they think we haven’t read fairy tales?!”]

[“Hey, that fairy tale is called ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes.’”]

[“Help! Is this really the time to be discussing fairy tales? I feel like everyone’s been completely derailed!”]

[“Ahhh Jiang Yunyao spoils him so much! When Xiao Xie says he doesn’t like something, she immediately changes it! This couple is too adorable!”]

[“These two are crazy, and so are you all!”]

Jiang Yunyao waited a few seconds but didn’t receive the “breakfast” from Xie Yixing. When she looked over, he was motionless, seemingly lost in thought.

She gently nudged him. “Xie Yixing, where’s my breakfast?”

“Don’t make noise!” Xie Yixing pressed a finger to his lips, signaling silence. “I’m thinking about the first meal you treated me to when we met!”

Jiang Yunyao: “...You can say or do anything you want, as long as you make it, I’ll love it!”

Xie Yixing was very serious. “Nope!”

Jiang Yunyao: “...” Fine.

Xie Yixing didn’t keep everyone waiting long. He got out of bed, faced Jiang Yunyao, and adjusted his pajama collar.

Cradling a handful of air, he bowed deeply and presented it to Jiang Yunyao like a butler in a tailcoat, every movement brimming with elegance.

“Your Majesty, please enjoy your breakfast!”

Jiang Yunyao’s theatrical spirit was ignited. She immediately struck a regal pose. “Hmm, you’ve worked hard!”

“Your Majesty, it is my honor!” Xie Yixing straightened and lifted imaginary lids one by one.

“This is your favorite little wontons, filled only with dried shrimp and seaweed, no cilantro you dislike!”

“These are your beloved mushroom-stuffed soup dumplings!”

“Here’s your favored savory tofu pudding. I specially made it salty just as you like. Please try!”

Jiang Yunyao pretended to taste each exquisite invisible dish with the invisible cutlery.

She wiped her mouth with the invisible napkin in front of her, nodded slightly. “You did very well. I’m satisfied. You may leave now!”

Xie Yixing bowed again. “Yes, ma’am.”

After his performance ended, Jiang Yunyao immediately broke character, turning her gaze to the camera. “Director, does that mean our task is complete?”

The director picked up the megaphone and announced, “Jiang Yunyao and Xie Yixing, task complete!”

Before the live audience could react, Xie Yixing had already jumped back under the covers.

Jiang Yunyao was even faster—she collapsed down, pulled the blanket over herself, and closed her eyes, with not a single extra motion.

[“That works too?!”]

[“Watch me prepare a luxurious breakfast for my partner without lifting a finger!”]

[“You have to admit, his vivid description made me feel full just listening!”]

[“Got it, mental nourishment counts as food too!”]

[“True ‘feeding on air’!”]

[“Ahhh he called her ‘Your Majesty’ and even knows what she likes to eat. This couple is way too sweet!”]

[“Hey now, I’ve seen you in the front row several times already—enough!”]

[“Handsome guy, beautiful girl, such smooth teamwork. Truly a feast for the eyes!”]

[“Their chemistry probably comes from playing games together...”]

After completing their task, Jiang Yunyao and Xie Yixing quickly drifted off to sleep.

Their silent, imaginary performance spread online and rapidly gained traction throughout the morning, capturing public attention.

The livestream showed a dim, sleepy scene, clearly indicating the two were still asleep, while the comment section buzzed with lively discussion about the act.

[“Performing without props is usually awkward, but these two didn’t give me that feeling at all. Their acting was impressive!”]

[“Jiang Yunyao seems professionally trained, right? I heard she was the top of her class? Great acting makes sense!”]

[“Xiao Xie must be an amateur, right? No training and still performing so well, totally outshining those fluff celebrities!”]

[“Jiang Yunyao was top of her class? I’ve never heard of that before.”]

[“I think she’s pretty low-key about it, doesn’t promote it much. That’s actually quite admirable!”]

People tend to admire those who excel. As Jiang Yunyao’s reputation gradually improved, haters rang alarm bells and immediately began typing out slander.

[“What’s the use of good acting? A person with rotten morals is rotten to the core!”]

[“When will people stop idolizing top students? Once they enter society, even geniuses have to be ordinary workers!”]

[“The acting was cringe! It’s just to pass exams. If she was really talented, why hasn’t she won any awards?”]

Perhaps because public opinion of Jiang Yunyao had hit rock bottom before, no matter what the haters said this time, the general public still softened somewhat toward her.

Outside the villa, the director watched the storyboard on the monitor.

On one side, a scene full of affection with carefully prepared breakfast kept the live audience at a steady high, with comments either fawning over their looks or praising their perfect match.

On the other side, a lazy, relaxed silent performance quickly boosted the previously sluggish livestream viewership and sparked plenty of discussion.

Each group of guests had distinct traits. To set them as a control group as originally planned would be entirely inappropriate.

The plump assistant director scrolled through the trending list on his phone, eyes squinting into a smile.

He looked up at the stunning figure ahead, his gaze lingering briefly on the other’s half-white hair before speaking.

“Director, what’s the plan for next?”

The man sitting in the shadows put on his hat. His thin lips parted, and his slightly husky voice sounded.

“Continue issuing tasks as previously arranged. Full meeting at ten tonight.”
