Chapter 7: The Reckoning Begins with Relentless Clamor

Perhaps because Lu Mucheng was exhausted from the torment inflicted by the two of them, he said nothing during the meal. The male host remained polite but distant, while the female host was warm and hospitable. All in all, the dinner was an enjoyable occasion for both guests and hosts.
As the two prepared to leave, Jiang Yunyao glanced back at Lin Wanwan standing by the door. Unable to resist, she stepped back and, under Lu Mucheng’s lurking gaze, firmly grasped Lin Wanwan’s hand.
Her eyes shone with hope as she earnestly asked, “Wanwan, from today onward, are we friends?”
Lin Wanwan’s watery eyes curved gently, her soft voice drifting with the night breeze, as if soothing every unease in the heart, “Of course.”
Jiang Yunyao did not want to let go and struggled to find something to say.
“Wanwan, thank you. If it weren’t for you all, neither Xie Yixing nor I would have known what to do tonight!” She choked up, “We will forever remember this kindness! If ever given the chance, we will repay it a thousandfold!”
She truly was riding her luck, and her gratitude was genuine.
Xie Yixing nodded in agreement.
Lin Wanwan was amused by her and comforted her softly, “Ayao, you’re exaggerating. It’s just a meal, not a great favor. Besides, didn’t you also help us?”
Jiang Yunyao, still holding the small hand, replied earnestly, “No! It may mean little to you, but it is of great significance to us!”
Lu Mucheng stared at the pair of hands holding his wife’s, enduring it for a long moment before finally signaling Xie Yixing with a glance.
“Quick, pull your wife away! Don’t let her covet mine!”
Xie Yixing caught the signal but looked utterly bewildered, completely missing the message.
Lu Mucheng: “...”
A misstep. He forgot this fellow was brainless!
Unaware of the exchange between the two men, Jiang Yunyao, feeling she had sufficiently ridden her luck, gently pulled Lin Wanwan’s hand and bid farewell to the couple, ready to make a graceful exit.
Hearing that Jiang Yunyao was leaving, Lu Mucheng’s expression softened a bit.
He took his wife’s hand and forced a faint, insincere smile to the couple at the door, “Take care. We won’t see you out.”
The viewers in the livestream room, with their keen eyes, noticed something unusual.
“Am I seeing things? Lu the actor doesn’t look very happy.”
“Hmph! Who’d be happy having such a morally corrupt person over for dinner?”
“Maybe it’s not because of Jiang Yunyao? Just now, didn’t Lu the actor glare at Xie Yixing?”
“Our Cheng Ge is usually polite to everyone. There’s no way he’d glare at someone! You must have seen it wrong.”
“By the way, did anyone notice? Jiang Yunyao seems to really like holding Lin Wanwan’s hand. Could she be a hand fetishist?”
“Wanwan’s hands are soft, fair, slender, and even. They look so delicate and fragrant, hehe… who wouldn’t like that!”
On the way back, Jiang Yunyao’s good mood soared exponentially.

She happily asked Xie Yixing, “Did you enjoy last night?”
Xie Yixing visibly brightened, “It was amazing! I kept getting stuck on that level, but last night, I just pressed buttons randomly and cleared it. I was three minutes faster than the other side!”
Jiang Yunyao smiled mysteriously, “Tonight, I promise it will be even better!”
Dinner plus a handshake—that’s a double buff stacked for continuous good fortune!
The viewers almost got blasted by what sounded like a speeding vehicle and started joking.
“If I didn’t know you two were gaming last night, I’d totally have misunderstood!”
“Mommy, this isn’t the way to kindergarten—let me out!”
“What kind of devilish words are they saying?”
“Let me explain to the newcomers: what this couple is talking about is not what you think!”
“Production team: This is a serious variety show! Seriously!”
Jiang Yunyao and Xie Yixing excitedly returned home. Just as they pulled out their phones, they received a task card from the production team.
Jiang Yunyao glanced at it, “Task 3: Complete no less than fifty minutes of post-dinner activity?”
Without hesitation, Xie Yixing blurted, “Play games!”
The director immediately shouted through a megaphone, “No! It must be an outdoor activity!”
Fearing they might just go outside to play games, the director added, “And the activity cannot be related to mobile games!”
Xie Yixing instantly wilted like a frostbitten eggplant and mumbled, “Fine…”
[Hahaha, the director is really worried about these two gaming!]
[Director: Kick them out! Get these two out of the villa!]
[You can tell he really loves gaming!]
[That game’s just okay. I only played it today, nothing special!]
[Wow, you’re going straight down the rabbit hole!]
[From next door, just curious—is the vibe around here always this quirky?]
The production team provided funding for the two, stating it could be used for tonight’s outdoor activity.
Speaking of outdoor activities, Jiang Yunyao couldn’t come up with any ideas immediately.
Xie Yixing was equally clueless.
Seeing their lack of ideas, the assistant director kindly offered several options.
“You could go to an amusement park and complete at least three rides, or go to a large shopping mall and buy at least three types of daily necessities, or go to the snack street and purchase at least three kinds of snacks, or the arcade…”

The director cut in decisively, “No arcade!”
The assistant director swallowed the last suggestion and continued, “All these places are close to the villa; the guests can choose freely!”
[Haha, the director hurriedly withdrew one of the options!]
[I looked it up online; there really is an arcade nearby!]
[Haha, don’t even mention the word ‘game.’ The director probably has some psychological trauma now!]
[Not just the director worries, I’m worried these two will stay out all night at the arcade playing games!]
Jiang Yunyao held the funding given by the production team but didn’t rush to act. Instead, she stroked her chin and shared her analysis.
“The production team confiscated our cash and online banking. They only give us money when we go out to do activities. I think later they might require us to complete tasks to earn cash!”
Xie Yixing had never lacked money in his life and had no concept of saving.
“So?” he asked.
Jiang Yunyao waved the six red bills in her hand and answered his doubt, “So, we should spend as little as possible, preferably not at all, and save it!”
Xie Yixing had little material desire and agreed. However—
“What about our tasks?”
Jiang Yunyao quickly began calculating.
“Amusement park tickets are 280 each, so that’s a direct pass!”
“Tissues at the mall are the cheapest. Three packs cost about ten yuan, that might be possible!”
“Three fried skewers at the snack street cost at least three yuan; this seems like the better option!”
Suddenly, Xie Yixing’s intelligence kicked in, “Is there any activity that doesn’t cost money?”
Jiang Yunyao shot him a ‘smart’ look and said, “Then we can’t use the options from the production team. We need to come up with our own activity!”
Seeing her calm composure, Xie Yixing knew she had a plan.
Jiang Yunyao, like a teacher inspiring a student, asked, “What do ordinary couples usually do after dinner?”
Xie Yixing thought of his own parents and suddenly had a flash of insight. Quickly, he answered, “Take a walk!”
“Correct!” Jiang Yunyao snapped her fingers. “We can just take a walk! That way, we don’t have to spend any money!”
[These two are really going all out to save money!]
