Only after Gu Yu had left did Tang Qiushuang ask, “What are you planning to do?”
“I’m never giving him another chance. I’m already preparing to file for divorce.” Tang Xi’s voice was firm. “Even if a broken mirror is mended, the cracks will remain. Gu Yu and I can never go back to the way we were.”
“To be honest, when your father and I entrusted you to him back then, it wasn’t merely because he was a man of good character. More than that, we were moved by the depth of his feelings for you. All these years, he never betrayed our trust. He truly fulfilled the responsibilities a husband ought to bear.” Tang Qiushuang did not want to see her niece suffer. “But if he has done something to wrong you, neither your father nor I will indulge or excuse him. Whatever happens, we respect your decision.”
“Thank you, Aunt.”
Ever since Tang Xi’s mother passed away, Tang Qiushuang had taken on the role of a mother to her.
Tang Xi actually knew that Tang Qiushuang and Tang Jili were not related by blood.
“From the way Gu Yu acted, he certainly won’t agree to a divorce. And nothing has been proven about his relationship with Gu Wenwen. Do you want to think it over again?” Marriage was no child’s game, and Tang Qiushuang did not want her niece to regret her decision one day.
“Aunt, the person who broke my heart has never been Gu Wenwen.”

The reason Gu Yu had been unable to find Tang Xi was that she had been staying at Evening Tide House these past few days.
She certainly would not go to any of the properties they owned together, and it would be easy for him to track her down if she stayed at a hotel.
Tang Xi wanted some peace and quiet, and Evening Tide House was the first place that came to mind.

She had a key to the place and could read the books in the library whenever she wished.
The butler, Luo, treated her with impeccable courtesy and thoughtfully arranged her meals and accommodations.
When Tang Xi returned, she brought Butler Luo two boxes of incense.
“I noticed that you haven’t seemed to be sleeping well lately. I made this incense myself based on a book of unofficial histories. I hope you won’t mind it.”
The incense came in wooden brocade boxes, thick and ornate in appearance.
Butler Luo had not expected to receive a gift and was momentarily stunned.
“Don’t worry. I made quite a few improvements during the process, and I tested it as well. It’s absolutely harmless to the human body.” Mistaking his expression, Tang Xi hurriedly explained.
Butler Luo immediately accepted the boxes with both hands. “Miss Tang, you misunderstand. I’m simply overwhelmed with delight.”
He truly had not been sleeping well lately, perhaps because he was getting older.
His poor sleep had left him without an appetite and drained of energy whenever he worked. This incense was nothing short of a godsend.
That very evening, Butler Luo lit one stick. To his surprise, the effect was astonishingly good. He slept until he woke naturally, feeling completely refreshed.

Feeling rather pleased with himself, Butler Luo immediately reported to his employer: “Miss Tang has been reading at Evening Tide House these past few days. Following your instructions, I’ve prepared light meals for her, and she seems to like them.”
After thinking for a moment, Butler Luo added, “Miss Tang is beautiful and kindhearted. She noticed that I was suffering from insomnia and specially made me two boxes of incense. The effect is truly incredible.”
Not long after he sent the message, his employer replied: “I haven’t been sleeping well lately either.”
Butler Luo hurriedly hugged the two boxes of incense protectively, his mind racing. What did his employer mean by that? They were only two boxes of incense—could he want them too?
Surely a man of his stature would not covet such a small possession of his?
After pondering the matter for an entire day, Butler Luo finally could not resist asking when he brought Tang Xi her dinner.
“Miss Tang, do you have any more of this incense?”
“No, I don’t.” Tang Xi looked up from her book. “I made it recently.”
Seeing that Butler Luo seemed hesitant, as though he had something to say, Tang Xi smiled. “Just say whatever is on your mind.”
Only then did Butler Luo speak. “It’s Mr. Zhou. He hasn’t been sleeping well lately either, and I was wondering... Would it be too much trouble to ask you, Miss Tang?”
