Are you truly together?
Morning, Zhu Xin Village, at the maternal uncle’s house
Hui Qinghui and Silky had just woken up. Hui Qinghui stood before Silky and asked, “Rou, has Yue told you what kind of relationship she has with your brother? Why is it that your brother wasn’t angry even after being hit by Yue?” It was no wonder they felt something was off; Zhao Chengxian was not the type to simply take a blow without retaliation. So why wasn’t he angry this time? If only he recalled what Hui Yue said last night, he would understand the reason behind it.
Silky was just as puzzled. Although she didn’t know her brother very well, she knew Zhao Chengxian was not the sort to refrain from fighting back just because the assailant was a girl. It was truly strange. She thought for a moment and said, “Yes, my brother—a prince no less—was struck by a girl. That alone is incredible, but that he didn’t retaliate is simply unfathomable. He certainly doesn’t belong to the category of gentlemen.” She remembered how Lady Qin, out of jealousy, fought with Lady Yu, and both were punished with twenty strokes. Even then, he hadn’t suffered as much as now. But why wasn’t he angry this time? No matter how ruthless her brother could be, faced with the girl he cared for, his heart would always soften.
While Hui Qinghui and Silky were still bewildered, Hui Yue and Zhao Chengxian arrived. Though their hands weren’t entwined, their gazes were full of tender affection, making it impossible not to guess the nature of their relationship. Hui Yue spotted Hui Qinghui and Silky by the door and ran over, her spirits high as she laughed, “Brother, Princess, you’ve just gotten up? Have Uncle and Aunt awakened yet? When I went out, they were still sleeping!”
Silky was thrown off by Yue’s mood. Last night she was heavy-hearted, and this morning she was radiant—such a rapid change, truly the mark of someone in love.
Silky replied, somewhat confused, “Uncle and Aunt went to Panyu Village, which is a bit far from here, to attend a wedding. It’s Aunt’s nephew who’s getting married, so they probably won’t be back until tomorrow.” This sister-in-law’s mood changes so swiftly; she’d have to be careful in the future! She didn’t realize only one person could make Hui Yue change so quickly.
Hui Qinghui asked in surprise, “Yue, what happened last night? You suddenly rushed forward and slapped Prince Jun. Weren’t you afraid of committing the crime of assaulting a member of the royal family?” He was the sort who wouldn’t even fear the crime of assaulting royalty; Yue had merely slapped Zhao Chengxian, and she hadn’t used much force. There was no mark on his face—would Yue really be afraid?
Yue glanced back at Zhao Chengxian and smiled. “I hit him? Did I? I don’t remember. Bookworm, did I hit you last night?” She grinned at Zhao Chengxian, feigning ignorance. She knew she’d hit the wrong person, but had no intention of apologizing.
Zhao Chengxian shook his head helplessly. “No… I didn’t get slapped. Last night, a cat scratched my face. Luckily, it showed mercy or else my face would be unpresentable today!” If Yue had used her full strength, Zhao Chengxian’s handsome face might have been swollen.
Silky and Hui Qinghui exchanged shocked glances and exclaimed in unison, “You two aren’t… dating, are you?” At least their intelligence hadn’t completely deserted them; if they still couldn’t see it, they really would be fools.
Zhao Chengxian replied domineeringly, “Why not? Are you the only ones allowed to be together?” Yue simply smiled at them.
It’s not that I don’t understand, but the world changes too quickly. Silky still couldn’t believe it and asked, gazing at Yue and Zhao Chengxian, “You really are together?” It was almost unimaginable.
Zhao Chengxian ignored them and simply took Yue’s hand, leading her inside. As they walked, he asked, “Little Moon, can you cook?” Yue nodded, smiling. Zhao Chengxian eyed her skeptically, “Is it tasty? Will I get a stomachache?” No matter how it tasted, as long as Yue made it, he’d eat it.
Hui Yue jumped up and patted Zhao Chengxian’s head. “Even if it’s not tasty, you have to eat it!” Yue was the wild and willful girlfriend type. The two bantered affectionately, paying no attention to the two petrified figures watching them from the doorway.
