Volume 1, Chapter 24: The Mad Couple
Jiang Chenyu climbed out of bed, following her internal clock, and went through her routine of brushing her teeth and washing her face. By the time she finished, it was exactly time for the daily morning lesson.
She glanced at the time and thought of Gu Jinyan, but she didn't take the initiative to call him. Whether he came or not was his choice; she wouldn't interfere.
However, as the clock struck six, a knock sounded at her door.
"Teacher Jiang, are you awake?" Gu Jinyan’s voice came from the other side.
"Teacher Jiang"? What kind of nonsense is that!
Jiang Chenyu snorted, though she rose without hesitation to open the door. Her lips curled upward slightly against her will; she supposed he had good taste and hadn't辜负 her kindness...
The vendor was stunned. Having run his stall at the gate of Magic City University for so many years, he had encountered many strange requests.
She seemed to have recovered well; her cheeks were rosy, a far cry from the frailty he had seen the other day. Looking at her now, Song Miaomiao was quite beautiful.
Over half an hour passed. Jiang Yue had hunted three roe deer, over a dozen pheasants, and caught three or four rat snakes, just enough to fulfill the six-year requirement.
Furthermore, thanks to Qin Yao’s promotion, there were many new tourists that afternoon, making the scenic spot even more bustling.
Meanwhile, Jian Jie was frustrated by the failure of her plan. Seeing her grandfather’s name on the caller ID, she felt a surge of anxiety.
Seeing that Zhu Xing was actually going to lay a hand on him, Jian Ren panicked and hurriedly looked to the others present.
No matter how disharmonious their family was, in front of outsiders, Shen Sisi still stood united with Shen Nanfeng.
Jian Jie turned her head away, a hint of glee flashing across her face. Since she had thrown herself at him like this, she didn't believe Shen Hao wouldn't take the bait.
She had been watching the live streams for the past two days. She had observed Miaomiao’s transformation, and her fear had gradually turned into admiration.
The crowd gathered there, learning that Liu Yingwu had gained the favor of Elder Xu, all assumed he was about to make a comeback. They were already harboring intentions of flattering him.
Diana was still making her final struggle. Ever since meeting Meng Qi, she no longer viewed the entire purpose of her life as a sacrifice to Qiyuan. She wanted to live; she had never craved life as much as she did now.
"We will not leave the star spirit behind! Move aside!" Dingdong’s palms glowed with green light. The two sides began to fight, quite inexplicably. It wasn't exactly a war, but rather an attempt to stop one another.
Lu Tianyou was still hesitating when the impatient Big Gray clamped its jaws onto his collar and, with a swift toss, threw him onto its wolf back amidst Lu Tianyou’s startled cry.
The moment he woke up early in the morning, he saw Wu Liang’s smiling, aged face, which nearly frightened him out of his wits. Then, Wu Liang kept pestering him, endlessly babbling about the burial goods in the ancient tomb.
But they were clear that Chen Yu must have come from a prominent family; otherwise, he couldn't have achieved so much. They knew that reaching this level required significant wealth to acquire resources.
The girl seemed to show no mercy when dealing with spirits; one after another, golden palms slammed into the hanging ghost, forcing it to retreat repeatedly.
Although he thought this, he couldn't say it aloud. Chen Yu simply nodded, which served as his answer.
There was a streak of stubbornness in An Yueqi’s bones. The more Jing Rou spoke like that, the more she wanted to defy her.
It was not yet noon, but the heat while walking was already unbearable. Yu Kun untied the water bag from his waist and tilted his head back to gulp down the contents.
"It’s like this: not only did I not kill his parents, but I actually saved his life." Forced into a corner, Chen Yu explained the sequence of events. Just as he had anticipated, the outcome was exactly as he imagined.
Rehearsing for the gala was time-consuming and exhausting. On one hand, Li Yingjun didn't want the five children to be overworked; on the other, he recalled how he himself would subconsciously "resist" the countless galas during this season. As soon as any Spring Festival gala came on, he would immediately change the channel.
Looking down, jagged peaks stood tall and straight, while at the very bottom, pitch-black liquid churned and roared, within which faint, agonizing struggles of undead creatures could be seen.
The sentiments among the common people were mostly of regret. Within Luoyang, it wasn't the first or second time someone had offended the officials and met a bad end. Thus, although Luoyang was the Imperial Capital, boasting endless wealth, it also held unspeakable dangers.
Yi Feng was so angry he cursed loudly, but every time he tried to move, the old man Tianji followed like a shadow, sealing his path. The crooked wooden staff grew ten thousand times larger, sweeping across the sky and stirring the heavens; Yi Feng couldn't break through, his speed inferior to that of the old man.
Then there were the three temple masters; they surely wanted to obtain the mature Death Fruit, yet now someone had destroyed it, which left Yang Tian somewhat perplexed.
"Is there any way!" The old emperor seemed to have grabbed onto a lifeline, hurriedly gripping Gangmen Jing’s shoulders.
Tang Huaizhi lacked good cultivation techniques, and having wasted his years of practice, his strength was insufficient, so he set his sights on his birthplace.
Li Yingjun sighed as he listened. He felt a bit of sympathy for Old Man Zhai—how could anyone be so unlucky?
Listening to his shameless words, unexpectedly, Shuang'er did not object, only letting out a soft, mosquito-like "en." The atmosphere became somewhat awkward. Just then, three strikes of a gong sounded from a nearby pleasure boat, causing Li Muran and Cheng Shuang'er to look over in unison.
Thinking of this, Zhou Mengmeng felt as if she were submerged in a sea of shame. She secretly peeked at this man who loved his wife so deeply, not understanding what was wrong with her. She had detested him before, but now she somewhat hoped he would be as lewd and shameless toward her again.
Dozens of cars were parked a few hundred meters from the highway entrance, their red lights flashing. The vehicles in front were slowly decelerating as they merged into the queue, creating quite a spectacular sight.
Suspicious, the female Rathalos flapped her wings violently, her form suddenly soaring higher, before her massive steel claws, capable of shattering iron, swiped toward Gida.
The two launched their attacks almost simultaneously. They had been five or six meters apart, but in a single breath, they were already locked in combat.
"We are not just watching," the figure in the black robe said. "I must go and intimidate those lackeys of Tianhun, lest they go and trouble the Sacred Monkey." With that, the black robe flew away.
Waiting was never a pleasant thing, much like Weisheng, who held onto a bridge pillar and drowned in the water.
"Who dares to come to my Kandergile family and run wild!" Edite shouted immediately. His gaze shifted to the rear, and following his eyes, everyone looked at the figure slowly approaching.
As he spoke, Huiling threw out the Kongming alms bowl. Zhang Qian muttered a few words, and two flying swords suddenly emerged from behind him, whistling toward the bowl and clashing against it with a series of metallic rings.
However, Fang Ziqin was worried about something else: "Ma Zhe, should I go to that dinner tomorrow?" She really didn't want to go, but she knew Ma Zhe had arranged the dinner for her sake, and she feared she couldn't refuse.
One person pulled Tang Ming’s left hand, and the other pulled his right, both clamoring for Tang Ming to leave with them.
