The man and the god were completely oblivious to their actions, leaving the two bank staff members thoroughly terrified. After all, besides Xu Si, no one could see Nan Xian.

The two staff members glanced at Xu Si, then at the empty space beside her. Convinced there was no one else there, they exchanged a look, bracing themselves for what might come next.

"Ahem!" Suppressing the turmoil in her heart, Xu Si searched her memory and pulled her ID card from her pocket, handing it over.

"Very well, Miss Xu. Our records show you have a total debt of one hundred and three thousand yuan, which includes three thousand in interest. How would you like to settle this?"

"With this!" Xu Si slowly pulled a gold bar from her pocket.

The teller’s face turned pale, fearing she might be about to meet an untimely end, when a burst of golden light blinded them both.

Taking in their transition from fear to astonishment and then to pure delight, Xu Si raised an eyebrow calmly. Having lived two lifetimes, this was her first time experiencing the mindset of a wealthy person. She couldn't help but curl the corners of her lips as she handed over the gold.

"It was left to me by my parents. Could you check if this is enough?"

"Gold?" The teller closed her gaping mouth, her hands trembling as she took the heavy, brick-sized bar. "Miss Xu, please wait a moment. We need to verify its authenticity."

Authenticity? Xu Si felt a sudden, ominous premonition. She looked up at Nan Xian beside her.

Nan Xian puffed out his chest, as confident as ever. "Let them verify it. Let them check. Everything belonging to this deity is absolutely genuine."

"Fine, verify it!" Xu Si confirmed with a nod.

The teller swallowed hard and hurried toward the manager's office with the gold bar. Throughout the bank, everyone moved with extreme caution, terrified of causing even the slightest damage.

Even the manager, having never seen a gold bar the size of a brick, took it with trembling hands, inspecting it from every angle.

"Should we call the appraisal experts?"

"I’ve already called them, Manager."

"Good." The group hovered over the gold brick, waiting until Xu Si felt her nerves fraying.

Twenty minutes later, a team arrived in a rush. Just as the manager’s office door clicked shut, the brilliant golden light emanating from the brick slowly faded, revealing its true form: a plain, unremarkable stone.

"Where is the gold brick?" The expert turned around, having just put on his glasses. He stared at the stone in bewilderment, then looked at the deputy manager. The deputy manager looked at the manager, and the manager looked at the teller. They all swallowed in unison.

Although the door was closed, Xu Si, standing before the glass partition, had seen the change clearly.

She glared fiercely at Nan Xian, gritted her teeth, and turned away, taking a cautious first step.

"Miss Xu, please wait!"

The female teller’s voice sounded like a demonic summons. Xu Si took a deep breath and swung a ferocious blow at Nan Xian.

Nan Xian was quick; he ducked instantly. Xu Si swung at empty air, her frail body losing its balance from the force of the swing. She spun around in place and collapsed to the floor.

As she lost consciousness, she heard only two words: "Call the police!"

"Drip, drip, drip!"

The sound of dripping water was maddening. Xu Si grabbed the blanket, trying to cover her head. Unexpectedly, her hand was clamped down by someone. She pushed; he resisted. Xu Si gritted her teeth and snapped her eyes open.

Seeing the sea of uniforms before her, she swallowed her curses back down.

"Awake?" The lead officer, who was holding her hand, let go. "Don't move around. You had your stomach pumped yesterday."

"Oh." Xu Si replied flatly. She turned her head and saw the "bird's nest" head of hair beside her, sleeping soundly.

*Damn it, take this!* She thought, and without hesitation, she slammed her fist toward Nan Xian's head.

*Thud!* The metal hospital bed rattled under the impact.

"Who—who dares to ambush this deity?" Nan Xian shot up, leaping straight to the ceiling.

"Ah—" Xu Si looked at her instantly swollen hand, wailing silently. She gritted her teeth and met the officer's eyes with a serious expression.

The three officers were stunned by this display. The two standing nearby quickly pulled their superior back. "Maybe… maybe we should stay away from her? I feel like she’s about to assault an officer!"

"Nonsense!" Before the officer at the bedside could speak, Xu Si retorted righteously, "I just wanted to say I don't have money to pay the medical bills!"

Her small face was puffed up, her dark eyes filled with a sense of justice. It was incredibly cute, yet the words coming out of her mouth sounded like those of a little rogue.

The three officers couldn't help but chuckle. After exchanging a look, the lead officer said, "It’s fine, I’ve already paid your medical bills."

He didn't wait for her to breathe a sigh of relief before continuing: "We discovered your birth name is Xu Si. You are the second daughter of the Xu family who went missing, and were adopted by foster parents under the name Yao."

"You were gifted from a young age, supporting your entire family with scholarships until you were recognized by the Xu family after becoming the provincial top scorer in the college entrance exam."

"Currently, you have a total debt of three hundred thousand in principal, all of which flowed into the account of your college boyfriend. Just recently, you discovered that your impoverished, critically ill boyfriend is actually Si Jincheng, the fiancé of Xu Yi, the Xu family's adopted daughter."

"This relationship was a deception from the start, so you can request legal aid to apply for the recovery of that three hundred thousand."

"Are you serious?" Xu Si’s dull eyes suddenly lit up.

"Yes." Thinking of the Si family’s status, Li Xu said somewhat pityingly, "Even if you can't get it back, don't do anything foolish again. You are a top student from a prestigious university; you'll graduate in two years. Your future annual salary will be worth much more than a mere three hundred thousand."

"I won't, I won't. Of course I won't." Xu Si licked her dry lips, her mind filled only with the three hundred thousand.

She didn't notice the subtext in his words. Seeing this, Li Xu only shook his head. "Regarding the bank incident, your parents came to post your bail. They are right outside."

"Oh. So that means I don't have to go to jail?"

"No." His task finished, Li Xu stood up and headed for the door. "But Miss Xu, I must remind you: the only person you can truly trust is yourself."

"Hmm." At this, Xu Si looked at Nan Xian, who was slowly floating toward her, with an unreadable expression.

"After all, in this day and age, you can't even trust a god!"

Hearing these gritted-teeth words, Nan Xian’s old face flushed red. He scampered over to close the door, explaining sheepishly, "Well, little厉ghost, the gold bar was absolutely real. It’s just that… things from the Divine Realm cannot interface with the mortal world, so…"

"Heh!" Xu Si ignored him, turned her head, and picked up her phone.

Search: How to kill a god?

Answer: The Hexi Third Hospital looks forward to your admission.

Xu Si gritted her teeth. Nan Xian leaned in, trying to sneak a peek, but was ruthlessly swatted away.

Her other hand slipped, and the call was placed just like that.

"Hexi Third Hospital: healing your body, purifying your soul. A happy family where you will never again feel pain or loneliness…"

"Sister?" Xu Yi, who had been opening the door, froze. She closed the door and looked up.

"Dad, Sister really has gone crazy."
