Rubbing his temples, Le Xiaotian entered the program and announced, “Dear listeners, we’re sorry, something urgent has come up. Tonight’s Journey to the West will pause here. The exact broadcast time will be announced later.”

After finishing Perfect Myth, Le Xiaotian left the broadcasting studio immediately.

When he arrived at the monitoring room, he asked Director Tang, who was still stunned, “Director, if this is broadcast nationwide, how many people will watch? What kind of ratings could we expect?”

Director Tang drew a breath as if rescued from drowning, his voice trembling with excitement, fear, or perhaps both. “If General Ying is telling the truth, then the news will be contained within the country. That means about two billion people. The ratings would exceed ninety-five percent—a true mythic legend!”

Le Xiaotian murmured, “Two billion… two billion people… Is every Fama citizen supposed to watch?”

Exhaling, he said, “Director, have everyone prepare for a live broadcast shortly.”

Then, he turned to Sun Yuzhen. “Wife, come with me.”

Not long after, he brought Sun Yuzhen to a luxurious lounge on the same floor. Originally, this elegantly furnished room, complete with a shower and study, served as a reception suite. But after more than a month of stellar performance, Le Xiaotian had claimed it for his exclusive use.

As soon as he closed the door, he embraced Sun Yuzhen and began to kiss her.

Feeling Le Xiaotian’s hands exploring her body, ready to remove her clothes, Sun Yuzhen pushed him away. “Husband, what are you doing?”

Breathing heavily, Le Xiaotian laughed, “I’m too nervous, I need a little soul cleansing with you to clear my mind.”

Removing his hand from her waist, Sun Yuzhen’s face flushed as she retorted, “Cleanse your own soul, what time do you think it is?”

For Sun Yuzhen, thirty-one and fully matured, life had been sweet since she and Le Xiaotian had become a couple. Despite Le Xiaotian’s daily devotion to music, he was still a solo conductor, not burdened with managing a large orchestra. In the time left, he satisfied her both mentally and physically. They had been inseparable, their intelligence often dropping to zero. But now, Sun Yuzhen knew how to restrain herself and help Le Xiaotian regain composure.

He let out a long breath, walked to the wine cabinet, took out a bottle of red wine, and poured two generous glasses.

After drinking, he sprawled carelessly on the sofa and exclaimed, “Wife, in a while, two billion people will watch your husband’s live broadcast. Two billion! Can you imagine? I can’t.”

Sun Yuzhen sat down beside him, not touching her wine, worry etched across her face. “Husband, General Ying’s words make sense, but I can’t shake the feeling he has ulterior motives. Is there some kind of plot?”

Le Xiaotian signaled her to pass the ashtray, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag to steady himself. “I don’t know if there’s a plot, but this is an open scheme. He’s confident I’ll agree. He’s hard to deal with.”

Sun Yuzhen asked, puzzled, “Why don’t we just refuse him? With your ability, defeating Blue Cang is only a matter of time. I think it’s best if we stay out of this altogether.”

Le Xiaotian smiled wryly and countered, “Wife, I know you see the big picture. But think about it. The only thing I lack is time. It took a month just to crush Blue Cang’s Midnight Myth, and I haven’t even finished Journey to the West. I can’t slack off—I need to make it exciting. Here’s the problem: one frequency takes a month, and Blue Cang has one hundred sixty-seven frequencies. TV variety shows and news are even bigger undertakings. How much time would that take?”

Sun Yuzhen still disagreed. “Once you gain fame, things will change dramatically. Later programs won’t need so much time—even if you refuse to cut corners. Besides, you’re a genius conductor. Lotus has plenty of hosts for you to direct, just use them.”

Le Xiaotian shook his head. “I used to think so too. But in the past month, I discovered a problem—if I use Lotus’s hosts, my artistic work will be ruined. They don’t have the skill to achieve the effect I want. So, it has to be me alone.”

Sun Yuzhen, worried and slightly resentful, said, “Can’t you lower your standards a little? Frankly, your heart isn’t in Fama. Next year’s All-Star Extreme Challenge is your real goal. If so, just topple Blue Cang. Why get involved in this mess?”

He gently brushed aside her hair and spoke softly, “Wife, it’s precisely because I want to compete next year that I need this experience facing an audience. Especially at this scale—this is vital.”

Of course, Le Xiaotian didn’t mention another reason: only by doing this could he save time and pursue marrying Su Yun.

Seeing that she couldn’t persuade him, Sun Yuzhen could only sigh in resignation. “A true conductor is both the most relaxed and the most important—the rest is handled by subordinates. That’s what leadership means, that’s the real brain. But you, a peerless, god-level conducting genius, are the busiest of all, handling every little thing yourself.”

Embracing her waist, Le Xiaotian coaxed, “Wife, I know you want the best for me. But as you said, your husband is a one-of-a-kind, unmatched conductor. To be my hands and feet, they need the qualifications first!”

“Humph.” Sun Yuzhen, for once acting like a little girl, snorted and turned her head away.

Sitting upright, Le Xiaotian declared boldly, “Don’t worry, wife. I might not know General Ying’s true purpose, but I don’t need to. I’m not afraid. Besides, think about it—someone with such a positive image, yet fallen so far, must have a deep-seated hatred for Blue Cang’s backers. That much is undeniable—I’m certain.”

“But couldn’t you listen to your wife for once? You may not be afraid, but I am. I just feel something’s not right,” Sun Yuzhen complained, her eyes becoming moist.

Le Xiaotian laughed, “Sure! Come, let’s cleanse ourselves.”

Sun Yuzhen couldn’t help but smile, and as Le Xiaotian’s resolve became clear, she stopped arguing, pinching him fiercely. “Cleanse yourself. Ignore your wife’s advice and you’ll suffer for it.”

Le Xiaotian was pleased. “Not bad, wife. You’ve made progress learning Blue Star culture. Come, accompany me for a bath—it’s about to begin.”

Without further argument, Sun Yuzhen busied herself cleaning and dressing Le Xiaotian. After all, the audience would be two billion strong.
