Chapter 091: My Brother-in-Law Comes to Ask for Help
At seven o’clock, the sky outside the room was already bright.
When Le Xiaotian opened his eyes, he felt brimming with energy.
He had only slept for a little over an hour, but good sleep was worth more than ten hours of tossing and turning.
He sat up and threw off the blanket, then called to Chen Fang, who was covered by another quilt nearby. “Time to get up.”
After he called a few times, Chen Fang finally opened her sleepy eyes.
Once awake, she said with a pained look, “Let me sleep a little longer. My whole body aches.”
After strenuous exercise, one could suffer from acute or delayed muscle soreness, and since Chen Fang had never experienced the kind of extreme dancing she endured yesterday, she had really been put through the wringer.
Le Xiaotian pinched her cheek and teased, “Your skin’s gotten so nice. You look like a fresh young girl.”
That kind of age-reversing compliment made Chen Fang both delighted and a little shy. She shook her head and muttered, “Go away, stop bothering me. I want to sleep.”
He lifted her chin with a light tap and said with a roguish smile, “I’m going to keep bothering you until you can’t get out of bed.”
Not daring to compete with such a scoundrel, Chen Fang pulled her head back under the blanket.
After teasing the beauty and brightening his own mood, Le Xiaotian got up and said, “You sleep a little longer. This afternoon I’ll take you gliding. Do more extreme sports; once your body gets used to it, you’ll be fine.”
The release of the Crystal Violin had to be built on the foundation of clearing Star Suppression Tower.
So since Le Xiaotian had not yet broken through it, there was actually nothing especially urgent for Chen Fang to do here.
Hearing him say that, she poked her head out again and obediently said, “Mm.”
With a chuckle, Le Xiaotian headed for the bathroom.
After washing up, he called in seventeen female attendants to stand guard over Chen Fang while she slept.
Although Chen Fang tried hard to stop him and told him not to make such a fuss, she still could not outargue Le Xiaotian.
In truth, Le Xiaotian was a little afraid as well.
What he had learned from Yindenbo and Zhang Hao setting him up was that once people went mad, there was nothing they would not do.
Though he and Chen Fang had not formally confirmed their relationship, things had already come to this. At the very least, he could not let her come to harm.
If she were to end up like that woman surnamed Su, gone like a fading fragrance and a drifting shadow, Le Xiaotian feared he might truly lose his mind, so crazed that he would slaughter the innocent.
Only after the female attendants had arrived did Le Xiaotian finally leave the room.
When he reached the hotel lobby, he saw a young man hurrying toward him with an excited face. “Brother-in-law!”
At first, he had wanted to lose his temper; he hated nothing more than this sort of ambushing wait-at-the-door behavior. But when he heard what the young man called him, his anger faded.
He studied the young man, who was dressed neatly enough but clearly wearing clothes from a third-rate brand, and found that he looked neither like Su Yun nor like Sun Yuzhen. Instead, his face bore a slight resemblance to Chen Fang’s.
If he had not possessed keen powers of observation and a certain understanding of Chen Fang, it would truly have been hard to see the likeness between them.
Since the young man had called him brother-in-law and his face did resemble Chen Fang’s a little, then he must be a relative of hers.
Seeing how excited he was that he did not even know how to speak, Le Xiaotian smiled and said, “No rush. Let’s go sit over there and talk.”
The two of them then went to the open-air restaurant of Blue Moon Grand Hotel.
Looking at the breakfast set down before him, Chen Zhu swallowed secretly.
After some brief pleasantries, he had mentioned that he had not eaten breakfast, so his brother-in-law had ordered the most expensive noodles in the place, eight thousand a bowl.
Even the two small side dishes and the drinks were each more than a thousand Wu dollars.
Damn, his brother-in-law was rich beyond belief. A big star really was different.
Since they were not outsiders, Chen Zhu did not stand on ceremony and went straight to eating first.
After he finished, and after sipping a cocktail called Sea Island Beautiful Time that cost 3,958 Wu dollars a glass, he felt wonderfully content.
He accepted the cigar Le Xiaotian handed him, and only then seemed to remember the real matter at hand. “Brother-in-law, you really have to help me.”
The young man before him was named Chen Zhu, twenty-six years old, Chen Fang’s younger brother.
A few days ago, he had come to Blue Moon Island for a vacation. Last night he had called Chen Fang, but she had refused him, so this morning he had waited in the hotel lobby.
Taking a puff from the cigar, Le Xiaotian smiled. “Brother, you’re older than I am. Just call me Xiaotian, or brother. After all, your sister and I still haven’t officially confirmed anything. Don’t worry, if there’s anything I can do, I’ll do my utmost.”
Chen Zhu laughed. “Heh, with that from you, brother-in-law, I’m relieved.”
Fine, said and done. Forget it. Anyway, he had already taken so much advantage of Chen Fang that brother-in-law or not, what did a form of address matter?
Having made up his mind, Le Xiaotian asked, “So tell me, what’s this about?”
After finishing the Sea Island Beautiful Time and asking the waiter for another drink, Chen Zhu slowly began. “This goes back half a year. Don’t laugh at me, brother-in-law, but I work as a DJ in North Sea, and not even a resident one, just a substitute. That day, my boss was celebrating his birthday, and during the party I met her. She’s my boss’s niece. She’s incredibly beautiful, with such presence. Anyway, I just thought she was stunning.”
Le Xiaotian listened carefully, nodding in agreement from time to time.
Once he had opened up, Chen Zhu’s tone became much more relaxed. “Later on, we kept in touch. This time, she had a heartbreak, and she asked me to come with her to Blue Moon Island for a trip to clear her mind. We’ve been playing together for a few days, but she still isn’t happy. And she said that after a few more days, she’s going abroad and never coming back. So I want you, brother-in-law, to help me make her stay.”
After sorting out what he had said, Le Xiaotian asked, “What exactly can I help with? Is she someone I know?”
Chen Zhu hurriedly replied, “No. I came to ask you for help entirely because of my sister.”
Le Xiaotian looked slightly surprised. “Oh? You still have contact with your sister?”
Chen Zhu nodded. “Yes. Brother-in-law, you’re really a great romantic sage. Ever since my sister listened to your broadcast a little over a month ago, she’s been like a different person. She used to be so cold and aloof. But after your guidance, she’s become much more cheerful and lively. Last night she even called me a little brat. She never used to be like that.”
Le Xiaotian nodded in agreement. Indeed, ever since Chen Fang had first met him, she had changed. More accurately, she had shed the burden and mask she had carried for so long, and now lived far more freely and authentically.
Chen Zhu went on, “Then a few days ago, when I got here, I found out she was actually living with you, brother-in-law. And I thought to myself: my sister has always been so proper and self-respecting, and for her to be like this, she must be madly in love with you. Besides, so many women around me are secretly in love with you too. That’s why I came to you.”
Seeing that Le Xiaotian still did not speak, Chen Zhu pleaded, “Brother-in-law, I know you’re very busy, and that you still have to save Fama from its suffering. But you really have to help me. She is my whole world.”
