Chapter 079: The Hypnotic Anthem "Silver Abrasion"
At this moment, the players’ gazes toward Le Xiaotian had noticeably changed. They couldn’t tell if his dance skills were something he already possessed or if they had been activated just now. Based on the available information, it appeared to be a sudden activation. While others might need months to reach such a feat, he had managed it in mere minutes—and at such a high level. The waves were truly surging!
Sensing the thin young man’s defeat, Le Xiaotian paused for three seconds, then completed the dance-off. As the fiery effects faded, he rose and walked toward Chen Fang, who had been watching from the sidelines. Seeing him approach, sweat streaming down his body despite only a few minutes having passed, Chen Fang asked with concern, “How do you feel?”
Resting his right hand on her left shoulder, Le Xiaotian smiled, “I’m fine, I—ugh…” Before he could finish, he dry-heaved, overcome by a dizzy spell. Chen Fang stepped forward to support him, gently pressing his chest to help him catch his breath. Then, she retrieved a bottle of mineral water from the game’s storage.
After drinking it all, Le Xiaotian felt much better. He adjusted his breathing and strode toward the center of the dance floor. Facing the thousands of players around him, he smiled, “Come on.”
The Electronic Demon spoke up, “Don’t you need to rest? We don’t want to take advantage of you.”
Le Xiaotian shrugged, “My time is precious. If I take breaks, how long will this go on? Anyone who wants to dance, step forward. I accept the challenge—wheel battle style.”
Silence!
A deathly quiet fell!
The players were stunned. Normally, a dance-off would last anywhere from ten minutes to half an hour, and participants could jump in at any time to catch their opponent off guard and deliver a finishing blow. But this battle wouldn’t end in a few hours—it would take many. Unless the kid surrendered or was defeated outright. If not, he could very well dance himself to death right here.
Yet he chose the wheel battle—how arrogant!
Arrogance always invites humiliation!
“Kid, pick a song.”
“Don’t get cocky, kid.”
“The battle’s just begun, kid.”
Facing Le Xiaotian’s bold words, the players’ attitudes and the way they addressed him shifted, and the tension in the air intensified. Of course, he was putting on a show, but Le Xiaotian wasn’t foolish. With two billion players in the Federation, there were bound to be hidden masters among them. To win, he needed to delay; otherwise, it would be extremely difficult—he had nearly thrown up just now.
He slowly pulled up the light screen, searching among millions of tracks. Though he had already decided to use the three hundred or so Earth songs, the other players didn’t know that yet.
Once his breathing was steady, he announced, “I choose the 93 bpm version of ‘Silver Scrapes’ by Danny McCarthy.”
As soon as he made his selection, the game began playing the track, and the legendary melody descended once again.
“Ding-ding-ding, nine-two-nine-two~” The crisp sound of the electric piano rang out, still bright, still captivating. ‘Silver Scrapes’ had fewer strings than the previous track, ‘Lonely,’ but its electronic timbre, mimicking brass, was enhanced. Combined with a powerful double kick and the same 4/4 time signature, its rhythm was even more pronounced.
Of course, that was only true for these players—individual impressions of each song didn’t vary much. Amid the popular thumping beats, the players began to dance freely, with no set style, each moving as they pleased.
At that moment, Le Xiaotian spotted his next opponent.
A young woman in her twenties approached, then launched into her dance.
Her hair was smooth, long and straight, her deep-set eyes lending her a particularly profound gaze. Her delicate, petite face made her appear even slimmer. She wore a fitted dark green suit, her tight blouse accentuating her full chest. As she tossed her hair from side to side, Le Xiaotian caught a whiff of her fragrance and glimpsed a breathtaking sight.
Oh dear—Brother Xiaotian has no resistance to beautiful women!
As a surge of desire welled up inside him, he forced himself to withstand the charm assault from the beauty before him. She danced with clenched fists, her body soft and supple—nodding, twisting her waist, swinging her hips—charisma radiating, energy overflowing.
In that instant, Le Xiaotian made a judgment: this girl was not only beautiful, her dance skills were impressive. Simple movements, yet she produced a stunning effect—a sign of high difficulty. She combined her strengths with the essence of ‘Silver Scrapes’ seamlessly.
Oh man, Brother Xiaotian is more than just scraped—keep this up and I’ll suffer internal injuries!
Realizing further delay would spell trouble, he raised his right index finger skyward, pressing his whole body down in sync with the beat.
His nods grew more pronounced, the tempo slow but measured, the sense of rhythm stronger—this was slow sway. Here, slow sway wasn’t a genre or style, but a form of dance. ‘Silver Scrapes’ was essentially a house track, and ‘Lonely’ had similar musical elements.
His movements were textbook, and in a flash, the players unconsciously resonated with Le Xiaotian’s rhythm. The amplitude, grace, and force of their bodies subtly adjusted to match. Most didn’t realize this—they only felt the dance was exhilarating. Understanding wasn’t necessary.
Once he began, Le Xiaotian felt a change. This slow sway allowed for a degree of rest. Though the woman’s dance wasn’t as wild or sensual as reggae, she possessed a goddess-like aura, her chest half-veiled and lethal. The close-quarters dance-off had no formal back-and-forth, only the simplest yet most difficult mutual sway.
The players grew increasingly joyful, their expressions rich with positive energy—delight, excitement, and more.
The battle continued in this seemingly calm but secretly dangerous atmosphere.
But as the music repeated for the second time, Le Xiaotian felt a shift within himself—her beauty disrupted his breathing. He also noticed the woman’s sweet smile faded.
By the third round, she could dance no longer, lowering her head with a bitter expression, gasping for air.
Victory secured, Le Xiaotian silently breathed a sigh of relief. His eyes lingered on her chest—no harm in looking.
He discreetly swallowed, debating whether to strike up a conversation with the girl. But with performances for ‘Immortal’ and ‘Victory’ to prepare, too many matters to attend to, and Chen Fang nearby, he reconsidered.
Taking everything into account, he let the idea go.
When the music ended, he declared proudly, “You want me to change my name? Come on, then! Of course, only if you’re up to it!”
