Chapter 102: Playing Cunning Games
That guy stumbled forward, and the scalding vegetable soup in his hand splashed right onto my head... The distance was too close; there was no time to dodge. Besides, even if I had managed to avoid it, the splash would have surely hit Jin Yulian beside me. After all, a large bowl of soup thrown at such close range covers a wide area.
In a flash, I quickly stepped to the side and stood up. The bowl of soup landed directly on my back. Because of the proximity, the man couldn’t retreat in time. The bowl hit my back and rebounded, causing the remaining soup to splash onto his wrist.
Burning hot, he yelled, “You bastard, are you blind? You splashed my soup everywhere!”
At first, I had a sliver of doubt—was this guy sent by Qian Duobao to play tricks on me? Now, hearing his baseless accusations, I was certain he had just tried to ambush me with the soup. His motive was clear: earlier, I had splashed tea into Qian Duobao’s neck at Jin Yulian’s company. This was his revenge, sending someone to mess with me.
Impulsiveness was my unbreakable bad habit. “Damn it! You try to sneak attack me and still want to talk nonsense?” I couldn’t let him get away with it. I threw a punch straight at his nose. “Ouch!” he cried out, stumbling backward. With a crash, he knocked over the bowls and plates on the table behind him.
Jin Yulian tried to intervene, but it was too late. The man scrambled up, furious and shouting, “You dare to sneak attack me? If you’ve got guts, don’t run!” Clearly, he was rushing outside to call for reinforcements.
Jin Yulian looked uneasy. “What do we do?”
I said, “This guy is definitely a pawn sent by Qian Duobao. He’s trying to play dirty. Now that he’s gone to get backup, let’s get out of here.”
Jin Yulian quickly scanned the bill and paid. We didn’t have time to eat and prepared to leave. I knew Qian Duobao had plenty of money; he wouldn’t come himself but would pay others to do his dirty work.
As we stepped out of the fast-food restaurant, we bumped into three men. Leading them was none other than Huang Daqiang. Seeing me, he roared, “Li Shuifeng, you trash! You dare hit my men? If I don’t teach you a lesson today, my name’s not Huang!”
Enemies meeting face to face always burn with rage. Last time, I ambushed him and didn’t take the blame for them. This guy was surely here to seek revenge.
Huang Daqiang worked under contractor Xu Qingyun, who wanted to make money from Qian Duobao. So, with a simple order from Qian Duobao, Xu Qingyun and his men planned to take action against me.
I thought of Tietou lying in the hospital bed. His car accident must have been secretly arranged by Xu Qingyun and his crew. Those bastards loved playing dirty and harming others. A blazing fire of vengeance ignited in my heart.
If it weren’t for this unavoidable encounter, my revenge for Tietou might have been delayed. But since fate had brought us face to face, I decided to settle the score now.
Seeing that there were three men, Jin Yulian, worried I might get hurt, quickly grabbed my arm. “Ah Feng, don’t be reckless. Fighting these thugs isn’t worth it. Let’s run.”
I thought I couldn’t outrun them with Jin Yulian in tow, so I pushed her aside. “Let’s split up and run.”
Before she could understand, I darted forward like an arrow, already dozens of steps ahead.
Huang Daqiang and his men didn’t expect me to abandon Jin Yulian and run alone. Huang cursed, “Damn! This loser is really a coward, afraid to die. Now he’s even leaving his girlfriend behind, just running for his life!”
Huang Daqiang led two others in chase. Jin Yulian finally understood my plan. If we split up, their target would be me, so they’d chase me, allowing Jin Yulian to escape easily.
The three of them pursued me together. From their speed, I sensed tension among them. The man I had knocked down was in the lead, Huang Daqiang second, and the third man lagging behind. Clearly, the last one wasn’t going all out—just tagging along.
Huang Daqiang and the guy I hit were seeking revenge and chasing hard. The third was only after money, just along for the ride, hence trailing behind.
I worried that if all three attacked me at once, I wouldn’t stand a chance. But now, there was a few steps’ gap between them—a few seconds’ difference. That was my chance.
For ordinary people, a few seconds might not matter in a fight, but for someone like me who liked to knock people out with one punch, even a single second was enough to KO someone.
When a person runs forward, they have momentum. Like driving a car: the first driver sees an accident ahead and brakes in time; the second driver, unprepared, might rear-end them.
I deliberately slowed my pace, making Huang and the others think I was tiring. The man leading the chase, seeing he was about to catch me, pushed harder to close the gap.
Just as he grabbed the back of my shirt, I spun around and punched him squarely on the chin. He howled and fell straight back. Huang Daqiang, right behind him, was startled and stopped in his tracks.
Seeing me approach, Huang instinctively stepped back. I hated this guy with a deep, burning passion and lunged at him.
Today, my main target for revenge was him. He was definitely behind Tietou’s car accident.
I leapt up and kicked him hard in the chest, not holding back. With a thud, he fell, and I pressed my foot down on his chest.
There was a cracking sound, followed by Huang’s scream. I froze, realizing I might have broken one of his ribs.
Just as I lifted my foot, I felt a gust of wind brush against my forehead.
