Chapter 145: Yin Corpse Well
When women go wild, they are far more terrifying than men. Elder Sister Yang had no idea there was another woman in my room; she assumed it was just the two of us.
I gently pushed her away and said, "Elder Sister Yang, don't be like this. In broad daylight, it's rather embarrassing if someone sees us."
Clinging tightly to my neck, Elder Sister Yang laughed and scolded, "What are you putting on an act for! There are only the two of us here. I’ve already given myself to you, what is there to be embarrassed about?"
I thought to myself that Sister Ye, hiding under the covers and hearing Elder Sister Yang's words, must be cursing me for being utterly shameless and seducing so many women.
Hastily steering away from the subject, I said, "Elder Sister Yang, why the sudden rush? It won't be too late once we go back to your villa..."
Elder Sister Yang replied, "I just like it here. This place has so much ambiance. What's the matter? Don't tell me you're unwilling."
I felt that I had provoked a woman I shouldn't have messed with, and Elder Sister Yang was precisely that kind of woman. Her personality was quite fiery, and I found it a bit difficult to handle her blazing passion.
Perhaps due to her background, I guessed that Elder Sister Yang only had a vocational high school education, and her level of refinement was no higher than mine.
Elder Li’s adoptive parents, on the other hand, were high-level intellectuals. After being adopted by them, Elder Li had received a proper education, which gave her a high level of poise. She was also a graduate of a prestigious university and would never be as aggressive and uninhibited as Elder Sister Yang.
The people Elder Li associated with were social elites, senior white-collar professionals, and wealthy bosses. In contrast, Elder Sister Yang’s circle consisted of small-time bosses, various suppliers, and a mixed crowd of migrant workers.
Some of the employees under Elder Sister Yang hadn't even graduated from middle school, so one could easily imagine how refined Elder Sister Yang could possibly be.
While Elder Sister Yang’s refinement wasn't exceptionally high, she possessed a myriad of charms. At least in my eyes, she was more attractive than some female college students.
Of course, that was probably related to my own background. I hadn't even finished high school and had spent over two years behind bars, so I felt that Elder Sister Yang and I were birds of a feather. Unable to resist her temptation, I quickly sank into her embrace.
If there was no one else on the bed, it wouldn't matter; after all, I was no upright gentleman. But now, with Sister Ye still hiding in the bed, how could I possibly have the face to act this way?
I gave Elder Sister Yang a firm push and said, "It's noon. Let's get something to eat, and you can head back this afternoon, alright?"
Elder Sister Yang smiled seductively and said, "What about you? I think the scenery around this village is quite nice. This afternoon, you can take me sightseeing nearby, and we can spend the night here at your place, heading back together tomorrow. How does that sound?"
Under the present circumstances, I could only take things one step at a time, going along until it became impossible to hide.
I said, "Let's get something to eat first and talk later."
Elder Sister Yang smiled and said, "What's the rush? A lot of the food I brought is already cooked, we just need to prep it simply and it's ready to eat."
I took out the food Elder Sister Yang had brought and arranged it on the table. With a beaming smile, she said, "You go ahead and be busy! I want to rest for a bit."
With that, she plopped down on the edge of the bed, preparing to lie down and rest. Panicking inwardly, I quickly set the items down and rushed over to pull Elder Sister Yang back up.
Startled, she asked, "What do you think you're doing?"
I forced a smile and said, "Help me cook."
Elder Sister Yang replied, "During the New Year, I’ve already eaten my fill and lost my appetite. How about you take me sightseeing instead?"
I said, "Alright then! We'll just grab a casual bite, and I'll take you to explore the Corpse-Infested Well. Even though the architecture there is dilapidated, it is exquisitely crafted. You definitely haven't seen anything like it, and who knows, we might even find some priceless antique treasures."
Alarmed, Elder Sister Yang exclaimed, "What Corpse-Infested Well? Such a terrifying name."
I explained, "The Corpse-Infested Well was originally called the Lou Family Ancient Well. Legend has it that many people died in that well, and some of the corpses were never retrieved, hence the name Corpse-Infested Well."
Though frightened on the surface, curiosity got the better of her, and she asked, "Where is this Corpse-Infested Well?"
I answered, "It's at the Lou Family Ancient Courtyard, about a mountain trail away from here. If you want to see it, I'll take you there!"
Nervously and anxiously, Elder Sister Yang asked, "Is it haunted?"
I scolded her, "Haunted my foot! Where would there be ghosts in broad daylight?"
Elder Sister Yang pressed, "Then tell me, what is the origin of the Corpse-Infested Well?"
I replied, "I heard from my adoptive mother that she picked me up from the Corpse-Infested Well."
Astonished, Elder Sister Yang said, "Really? I only knew you were an orphan, but I never imagined you were picked up from the Corpse-Infested Well!"
I gave a bitter smile and said, "Whether it's true or false, I don't know. When I was little, my adoptive mother strictly warned me never to go near that well, saying that the well eats people."
Terrified, Elder Sister Yang said, "Really? That's so terrifying!"
Assuming a mysterious tone, I said, "When I was young, I once stayed at the Lou Family Ancient Courtyard. The room I stayed in had a window that, when pushed open, looked right out at an exquisite ancient well in the courtyard—that was the Corpse-Infested Well. I was home alone on a moonlit night when I heard the sound of water splashing from the well. Out of curiosity, I pushed open the window and looked down into the well in the courtyard, and I actually saw pale human figures shifting inside, like a few naked women swimming around..."
Instantly filled with curiosity, Elder Sister Yang asked, "Is that true or false? Could there really be ghosts in that ancient well?"
Seeing her terrified expression, I couldn't help but pat her shoulder and laugh, "I was just messing with you, haha!"
Infuriated, Elder Sister Yang lunged forward, grabbed my ear, and scolded, "You rascal, you deliberately tried to scare me!"
In truth, I really did intend to frighten her, hoping that once she grew scared, she would immediately drive away. However, the Corpse-Infested Well did indeed have many eerie legends attached to it. I really had stayed at the Lou Family Ancient Courtyard when I was young, though whether I was actually plucked from the Corpse-Infested Well, I had no way of knowing.
That was simply what Granny Li, my adoptive mother, had told me. She had also mentioned that once when I had a severe fever as a child, it was Old Mrs. Lou from the courtyard who cured me. But Granny Li was somewhat eccentric, so what she said wasn't necessarily true.
Frightened by my story, Elder Sister Yang's attention and curiosity were now entirely focused on the Corpse-Infested Well I had described.
As we ate, Elder Sister Yang began asking about the origins of the Corpse-Infested Well again. Women really do have a strong sense of curiosity!
I said, "I heard that the ancient well was originally dug at great expense by the ancestors of the Lou family. Later on, the young mistress of the Lou family and her sister-in-law threw themselves into the well and died together, and their bodies were never recovered."
That hooked Elder Sister Yang's appetite, and she asked with burning curiosity, "Why did the women of the Lou family commit suicide by jumping into the well?"
I replied, "Why the women of the Lou family jumped into the well? That's a story that goes back a very, very long time."
