Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Bewildered Members of the Serpent Clan
“Hm?” You Xiyue handed the Teng Snake crest to Junyang. “What is it?”
“I mean… your blood…” Junyang glanced at You Xiyue’s finger, which showed no trace of injury. It was the first time he’d seen You Xiyue use this ability. “Is it a special spell?”
“Oh… that?” You Xiyue grabbed Junyang’s sleeve and lightly drew her fingertip across the back of his hand. A cut appeared.
Blood welled up, dripping to the ground.
You Xiyue turned her palm upward and made a lifting motion. The blood floated into the air, and under her control, it transformed into a mist.
“You can control my blood too?” Junyang stared at the swirling blood mist, unsettled. He felt all the blood in his body stir with excitement, as if it might leap out to dance with the mist above; his heartbeat grew erratic.
“What you’ve seen before as bloodline power is merely an intimidation—a pressure. But in the Sacred Realm, bloodline power is much more complex.” You Xiyue explained casually, then released her hold on Junyang’s blood.
The turbulence in Junyang’s veins slowly subsided.
The Sacred Realm was a place the people of the Holy World dared not even dream of. Legend said an ancient beast clan lived there, but it was only myth, so they weren’t counted among the ten great ancient beast clans.
“Little Ancestor, have you heard of the Fuzhu clan?”
“Fuzhu?” You Xiyue thought hard. “Seems I raised one when I was young.”
“Raised one?” Junyang was shocked again.
If the Fuzhu truly existed, it would be the fiercest ancient beast—a creature with four deer antlers, transparent as water, its appearance deceivingly innocent and adorable, yet capable of flooding the entire Immortal Realm in the blink of an eye, a master of water manipulation.
Though only described in legends and never seen, it was always ranked first among ancient beast clans. The beast also possessed powerful illusions, able to bewitch an entire island, letting all its inhabitants live within a world crafted by the Fuzhu.
“Very docile.” Speaking of the Fuzhu, You Xiyue grew nostalgic for Xueyu, taking out a demonic power sphere from her pouch and gently squeezing it. “Why hasn’t it come yet?”
As for describing a Fuzhu as docile, Junyang could only resign himself to digesting that. “Let’s wait another day. If Xueyu doesn’t come, I’ll go interrogate that boy Lvtan for you.”
“Oh…”
You Xiyue leaned against the Dream Mushroom again. This time, Junyang didn’t leave; he transformed back to his true form and lay beside her.
They hadn’t closed their eyes for long when the Teng Snake crest grew restless.
It flew straight out of Junyang’s universe pouch, hovering in the air, shaking violently.
The cracks lengthened and became denser.
You Xiyue rubbed her eyes, expressionless.
Junyang stared at the changes, hesitant to move.
Fortunately, the cracks didn’t shatter the crest. Like the spirit of the Teng Snake clan itself, it shed its bronze shell, revealing an inner jade plaque glowing white.
Immediately, the entire Immortal Realm began to tremble.
In the Treasure Pavilion, chaos erupted as everyone ran out onto the streets.
“What’s going on?”
“Why is the ground shaking so much?”
“Is it an earthquake?”
Perhaps they hadn’t realized it wasn’t just the Immortal Realm—both the Divine Realm and Holy Realm experienced the same tremors.
The members of the Azure Dragon clan and Fan Lihua’s group, who were still engaged in battle, stopped at once.
The shaking lasted only moments before the sky burst forth with blinding white light.
A Teng Snake, pure white from head to tail, swept its enormous wings through the air in spirals, unleashing a roar that sent chills down all who heard it.
Qing Yide looked up at the snake, uncertain. “That looks like the ancestor of the Teng Snake clan…”
“That’s the ancestor?” Fan Lihua squinted through the dazzling light, curious.
When the roaring ceased, the snake’s fierce face flicked its tongue and spoke in a voice that echoed across realms: “Holy World, the Teng Snake clan has returned.”
“What?”
“Holy World?”
“What does it mean that the Teng Snake clan has returned?”
The people of all realms were dumbfounded—none more so than the Teng Snake clan themselves.
They had been at home, and suddenly their entire residence, along with several mountain peaks, was lifted off the ground.
Then it soared into the sky.
Only when they merged completely into the Holy World and heard the words of the white Teng Snake above did the clan understand. Looking at themselves, they found they now possessed the bloodline of the Sacred Clan.
It happened just like that.
Junyang clutched his chest, feeling that long-lost Sacred Clan bloodline.
Just half a Golden Crow seed had returned him to the Holy World, restoring him to the Sacred Clan. It felt unreal, as if in a dream.
The Teng Snake clan, once settled, looked up at the still-visible snake in the sky and began to discuss.
“That’s Ancestor Junyang?”
“No, no,” someone quickly denied, “the ancestor often goes out for raids, but never looked so fierce.”
“That’s true—the ancestor is the best-looking in our clan.”
“So who is that in the sky?”
The acting clan leader, Junjue, Junyang’s third brother, stood at the entrance, self-doubting for a while before voicing his thought.
“That seems to be our clan spirit?”
“What?”
“Clan spirit?”
“Wasn’t our clan spirit green?”
“It changed color?”
The clan spirit’s sacred proclamation lasted about half an hour, then vanished.
It was the first such proclamation in tens of thousands of years. Whenever a clan advanced its bloodline to become a Sacred Clan, the clan spirit would announce it to the world.
Half an hour later, the Teng Snake clan crest finally descended, landing beside Junyang.
Junyang picked up the jade plaque, barely able to hide his excitement.
“Little Ancestor, our clan has returned to the Holy World.”
“Mm.” You Xiyue was unperturbed. “That Golden Crow seed is quite useful.”
Mentioning the Golden Crow seed, Junyang took out the remaining half. “There’s still half left, but even if I absorb it, our bloodline probably won’t reach the Sacred Realm.”
“You keep it,” You Xiyue said, not taking it back. It would only take up space with her.
“Alright.” Junyang tucked both the Golden Crow seed and Teng Snake crest back in his universe pouch.
Fan Zhujiu, of course, had also heard the commotion from the Teng Snake clan spirit’s proclamation, standing on the street, deep in thought.
“How did the Teng Snake clan suddenly return to the Holy World?”
“Could it be the Golden Crow seed ended up with them?” Fan Zhu Liu guessed.
“Wasn’t the Golden Crow seed upstairs? Didn’t a little girl buy it?” Fan Zhujiu slapped his forehead.
Fan Zhu Liu looked up at the fifth floor. “The little girl had two companions, didn’t she?”
“One’s a glutton. Is the other from the Teng Snake clan?”
If the Golden Crow seed had truly been absorbed by the Teng Snake clan, their plan to rob them would be a complete waste of time—perhaps even a fatal mistake.
Trying to rob the ‘ancestor of robbers’?
They’d likely be robbed themselves before they even tried. Now that the Teng Snake clan was Sacred like they were, the title of ‘most untouchable in the Holy World’ would soon change hands.
“Hurry, let’s go. If they really are Teng Snake clan, we’re in trouble.”
The more Fan Zhujiu thought, the more nervous he became.
He hoped he hadn’t said anything too offensive about the Teng Snake clan.
