Chapter 105: Fractured Memories
"Yue’er, what exactly happened afterward? I asked Xue’er, but she wouldn’t say! She told me to come back and ask Qing’er..." Ye Wuya inquired.
"My husband, let’s talk about this later. Let’s eat first, and after the meal, we’ll have Sister Qing explain everything together," Ye Ru’yue said, pulling Ye Wuya to the dining table.
"Where’s Qing’er?" Ye Wuya asked after sitting down. He recalled that after Ye Ru’xue returned, she had run behind the small wooden cabin. Xue Qing was the strongest among them; she should be able to sense his arrival.
As he pondered, two figures emerged. The one walking ahead was none other than Ye Ru’xue, who had just sneaked into the kitchen. She carefully carried a dish, afraid it might spill.
Turning his gaze behind, a woman appeared like a rare orchid in a secluded valley, ethereal and otherworldly. She possessed a serene beauty that harmonized perfectly with the surrounding splendid natural scenery, as if she were a part of the world's spiritual essence.
This peerlessly elegant woman seemed no older than eighteen. Her black hair danced lightly, long lashes fluttered, and her eyes shimmered with a misty haze. Her red lips and pearly teeth gleamed with a crystalline luster. Her slender neck and flawless skin resembled jade and ivory, with delicate features and a stunning visage. Her softly contoured figure evoked a sense of immaculate purity—utterly perfect.
"Qing’er!" Ye Wuya’s breath caught as he called out.
The woman behind was indeed Xue Qing, whom Ye Wuya had longed for day and night.
"Hehe, husband, try the big pig’s trotters soup I made myself!" Ye Ru’xue eagerly approached, placing the dish before Ye Wuya.
"Good," Ye Wuya replied.
Ye Ru’xue happily sat to the side, leaving ample space.
"Back already? Eat up," Xue Qing said, also placing her dish on the table and sitting opposite Ye Wuya, her smile as radiant as blooming flowers.
She seemed utterly unsurprised by Ye Wuya’s changes; everything was so natural, so ethereal, as if she were untouched by the mundane world. She exuded a certain enchanting power that constantly stirred the strings of Ye Wuya’s heart.
At that moment, Ye Wuya felt as if he had forgotten everything, completely immersed in this world.
The gnawing hunger prompted Ye Wuya to eat quickly, while three pairs of gentle eyes watched him tenderly.
Everything was so harmonious—whether wind, water, or people.
Looking up, Ye Wuya noticed the three women all staring at him. He touched the scar on his face and said, "You should eat. There’s no flower on my face. Why keep staring?"
"Husband, why don’t you let Sister Qing help remove the scars on your face?" Ye Ru’xue suggested.
"Oh? Why remove them?" Ye Wuya feigned curiosity.
"Because they look ugly and scary!" Ye Ru’xue said innocently.
"Oh? Ugly?" Ye Wuya’s heart tightened as he glanced at Xue Qing and Ye Ru’yue.
Neither of them replied, as if silently agreeing.
Ye Wuya fell silent, quietly eating the food before him.
Ye Ru’yue noticed his silence and shot Ye Ru’xue a sharp glance.
"Husband, don’t you still have many things you want to ask? Sister Qing is here now. Why don’t you ask?" Ye Ru’yue quickly changed the subject.
"Oh? Husband, what do you want to ask?" Xue Qing heard Ye Ru’yue’s words and asked.
"Nothing much. Qing’er, just tell me everything that happened," Ye Wuya said. Rather than questioning, he preferred Xue Qing to explain the whole story.
From early on, Ye Wuya had sensed something was amiss—not only with Xue Qing but also with Ye Ru’yue, Ye Ru’xue, and even this place.
Now it was time to hear Xue Qing’s account.
Xue Qing looked at Ye Wuya and spoke slowly, "When I rushed over, I saw you fall from high above. Those two were captured by an old man, so I saved them."
"And then?" Ye Wuya asked.
"Your injuries were severe. I used all my strength to save you. But after you regained consciousness, you had lost all your memories! Then I brought you all here to recuperate properly. They can both vouch for this," Xue Qing said, pointing to Ye Ru’yue and Ye Ru’xue, implying Ye Wuya could verify the truth with them.
Ye Wuya turned his gaze to the two women, the meaning clear.
"Husband, Sister Qing is right. When you woke up, you indeed had amnesia. When you called me just now, I thought I must have misheard," Ye Ru’yue said honestly, confirming Xue Qing’s testimony.
Ye Wuya pondered. It was simple: after falling from the sky, Xue Qing appeared, saved Ye Ru’yue and Ye Ru’xue, and then saved him. When he woke, the three women found him amnesic, so Xue Qing brought them to this place.
"Have your memories really returned?" Xue Qing asked.
"I don’t know. My mind is blank, and many memories are incomplete," Ye Wuya replied.
His heart brimmed with questions but lacked clarity about what was missing.
The three women behaved as if all was perfectly normal—too normal, so much so that Ye Wuya found it unsettling.
"Qing’er, I’m glad you’re back," Ye Wuya said.
"Back? Haven’t I been here all along?" Xue Qing asked, puzzled.
"All along?" Ye Wuya was confused. Didn’t she leave after their quarrel? What was going on?
"Yes! Yes, husband, hasn’t Sister Qing been here all along? You’re happy she’s back? What happened between you two?" Ye Ru’xue questioned.
Hmm? What was this about? Had Ye Ru’yue and Ye Ru’xue forgotten as well? Was it his memory failing, or were they hiding something?
Ye Wuya couldn’t help but spin wild theories.
"You really don’t remember?" Ye Wuya touched the foreheads of the two women. No fever, so why the confusion?
"Remember what?" The two women looked puzzled, noticing how different Ye Wuya seemed since waking.
"Qing’er, you said you were here all along? Then where were you when those two were captured?" Ye Wuya felt everything was in chaos, his mind muddled and vexed.
"I told you—I went back to the demon clan to handle some matters," Xue Qing said, then laid her hand on Ye Wuya’s wrist, checking his pulse. She thought, "His body seems fine. Could it be his spirit sea is in turmoil?"
"Is that really so?" Ye Wuya held his head, which felt increasingly swollen, as if something inside was about to burst.
"Husband, it’s true. If Sister Qing hadn’t returned to the demon clan, we wouldn’t have been captured, and you wouldn’t have had to fight so hard for us!"
