Chapter Thirty-Seven: Those Who Dare Touch the Ye Family [A special chapter added for the Hall Master Fengbian]

“What? Master, what should we do?” someone asked.
“According to our information, that expert won’t reach Ling City for another three days. So before he arrives, it’s either us or the Lu and Mu families—one side must perish,” Ye Yunlong intoned grimly, his gaze cold and menacing.
“Are you afraid to die?” Ye Yunlong demanded, his voice low and forceful.
The crowd fell silent. “No…” a few scattered voices replied, but the sound faded quickly.
“Cowards! Weaklings!” Ye Yunlong spat.
“These past days, what have you heard? Crying! The cries of our Ye family! What kind of crying?” he continued, forcing everyone to look up at him.
“They are the cries of wives and mothers—their husbands and sons, dead at the hands of those bastards from the Lu and Mu families, the wails of the old, the sick, and the helpless!”
“Did you all hear them?”
“Just today, a few old mothers from the branch families of the Ye family, leaning on canes, hobbling along, supporting each other, each clutching a kitchen knife!” Ye Yunlong paused, his gaze locking with the dozens of eyes fixed on him.
“I asked them, ‘Where are you going?’”
“They said—‘We’re going to avenge our sons and grandsons, to hack those Lu and Mu bastards to death!’” Ye Yunlong’s voice rose to a roar.
“This time, so many of our Ye family have died. Among them are your brothers and sisters, kinsmen, friends—your own loved ones! How did they die?” Ye Yunlong bellowed.
His words seemed to ignite something in the crowd. Tears welled up in eyes, and some were clearly moved to the core.
“Even the old and the weak dare to go after the Lu and Mu families. Now, tell me loudly—are you cowards? Are you weaklings?”
“No! We’re not cowards! Not weaklings—not at all!” the crowd shouted back, anger rising like a tide.
“Not cowards? Ha! You are cowards! A bunch of weaklings! If you don’t think of avenging your people, if you mope about all day in despair, what else could you be?” Ye Yunlong barked.
It was as if the words had pierced their hearts. The entire hall surged with energy. Some men, proud and strong, were moved to tears of blood, roaring like madmen:
“We’re not cowards, not weaklings! I’ll slaughter those sons of bitches myself!”

“If you’re not cowards, then tell me loudly—do you still remember the Ye family’s ancestral oath?”
“Those who touch the Ye family—”
“Those who touch the Ye family—”
“Those who touch the Ye family—”
“Must die!”
“Must die!”
“Must die!”
The momentum was overwhelming, their voices crashing like thunder, reaching for the heavens.
Ye Wuyá stood quietly watching Ye Yunlong stir the Ye family to a frenzy. His heart remained calm and unmoved; none of this mattered to him. What mattered was Xueqing, and the two women. In this unfamiliar world, only they could open his heart.
“Tomorrow night, we strike at the Lu family!” Ye Yunlong declared, enunciating each word.
“Kill! Kill! Kill...!”
As Ye Yunlong gave the order, the crowd gradually dispersed, and Ye Wuyá left with the two women.
The Lu and Mu families—
In the Lu family’s council hall, a great crowd had gathered. Lu Wushuang sat at the head, his expression dark as thunder.
With a crash, Lu Wushuang slammed his palm down on the round table, shattering it into pieces. The teapot and cups clattered to the ground, smashed to bits.
“Lu Jie, have you found out anything about that white-haired youth?” Lu Wushuang’s voice was chilling.
“Father, not yet. It’s as if he appeared out of thin air—no clues at all. At the very least, he’s not from around Ling City. I’ve made inquiries everywhere. Given his level of cultivation, he must be a figure of some standing. So I suspect—”
“Suspect what?”
“I suspect he might hail from a sect—or even one of the legendary blessed lands...”

Lu Wushuang sucked in a sharp breath at that speculation. If the youth truly came from a powerful sect, then the Lu and Mu families had kicked an iron wall this time.
In a sect filled with mighty cultivators, mortal clans were disregarded—mere ants to be crushed at a whim.
Steadying himself, Lu Wushuang turned to another. “Lu Hao, when will Lord Lin arrive in Ling City?”
“Master, Lord Lin is on the road and should arrive the day after tomorrow.”
“Damn it. The Ye family won’t give us a moment’s respite. With such an expert backing them, they’ll surely attack one of our two families,” Ye Yunlong said.
“Father, I’ve heard that the Ye family’s two girls were taken away by a mysterious expert. It seems to be true. According to our reports, those girls were only at the fifth or sixth level of body refinement a month ago—now they’ve reached the Spirit Gathering realm.”
Lu Jie pondered a moment, then added, “I believe some unknown force has taken an interest in them, and that white-haired youth was likely dispatched to protect them.”
“If that’s so, then tell me—why have they been so quiet all these days?” Lu Wushuang asked as he sat again.
“Father, think about it: Ye Yunlong and his three, plus the four old ones, then the two girls and the white-haired youth. The Ye family has eleven Spirit Gathering experts—two more than our two families combined.” He paused, then continued, “They clearly have the upper hand in top-level strength.”
“Do you remember what happened after that white-haired youth killed the Mu family’s master?” Lu Jie asked.
“He… seemed to grow stronger,” Lu Wushuang recalled.
“Exactly. After that day, I checked the old records. His state was identical to what the books describe—he fell into demonic possession!”
“What did you say? Demonic possession? No wonder he suddenly became so powerful, able to challenge even the Lord of Lingfeng City at the ninth level of Spirit Gathering!”
“Do the records say what happens after falling into that state?” Lu Wushuang pressed urgently.
Lu Jie answered slowly and clearly, “The meridians are destroyed, the cultivation wasted, and he becomes a cripple.”
“Hahaha! No wonder, no wonder! I’d wondered why they didn’t just finish us off in one stroke—their main force was disabled! Lu Jie, you are truly a good son—why didn’t I think of it before!” Lu Wushuang slapped his thigh and burst into laughter, a look of sudden enlightenment on his face.
“And those two little girls? The techniques they unleashed were no trifles—they killed two of our Spirit Gathering experts in an instant!” The more Lu Wushuang looked at Lu Jie, the more satisfied he became. How could his son be this clever…
