Chapter Fourteen: Souvenirs

Qiao Mian looked Liang Xiaoyu up and down.
While Liang Xiaoyu nervously fiddled with the hem of her shirt, deliberately turning her head away, her cheeks aflame, she finally heard Qiao Mian speak.
“In your dreams!”
Liang Xiaoyu whipped her head around in disbelief.
This alien had just flirted with her! No, actually—he’d rejected her!
She had just had a wild thought about making a grand sacrifice and latching onto this mysterious man, yet she hadn’t expected such an outcome.
He wouldn’t even spare her a glance?
Could it be that the green-skinned creature had no appreciation for beauty?
“My family is very wealthy, and I have countless admirers…” she said, lifting her chin and trying to appear as proud as possible.
“If you have something to say, say it straight. Don’t try any tricks,” Qiao Mian sneered coldly, “Otherwise, I won’t hesitate to kick you out.”
Liang Xiaoyu’s expression instantly turned pitiful. “I want to work here. Is that possible?”
“I said before—” Qiao Mian began.
But Liang Xiaoyu interrupted, “If you don’t pay me a salary, I’m not an employee.”
Qiao Mian was taken aback.
“I don’t want anything—food and drink I’ll handle myself. All I need is a place to stay—no, just a spot to pitch a tent. Let me wander around and stream from here, that’s all.”
She looked up at him with pleading eyes. “I can even pay for a ticket every day.”
A ticket!
Qiao Mian studied this woman carefully.
Not paying a salary means she isn’t staff.
What an absolutely brilliant idea!
Are you sure your surname isn’t Ma?
“Zero, she’s willing to pay for a ticket,” Qiao Mian said.
“That’s acceptable,” Zero replied.
Qiao Mian couldn’t help but clench his fist in excitement.
“What does your family do?” He wanted to maintain a good relationship with this blessed streamer for as long as possible.
“We own a pharmaceutical company worth tens of billions,” Liang Xiaoyu whispered.
Billions!
Qiao Mian scrutinized her more closely.
Looking properly now, he realized this streamer was actually quite attractive.
Her chest was unremarkable, but her face was beautiful, and her legs were long and slender.
At 1.7 meters tall, she’d drive any leg enthusiast wild.
“Do you have any siblings?” Qiao Mian asked calmly.
“No,” Liang Xiaoyu replied, “But it doesn’t matter—my parents have always let me make my own decisions.”
She was worried Qiao Mian might use the danger here as an excuse to prevent her from staying.
Damn.
Even more attractive!

Qiao Mian cleared his throat. “My office…”
He hadn’t finished when he saw a group of people coming out of the office building.
“Zero, what’s going on? Why so fast?” Qiao Mian was displeased.
He’d hoped to invite the streamer to his office for a look.
“The introduction is complete, as you instructed,” Zero replied.
“Mr. Qiao,” Liang Xiaoyu asked eagerly.
Qiao Mian waved his hand impatiently. “Do as you like.”
Seeing her delighted expression, he added, “But there’s no salary, and you can’t enjoy employee benefits.”
“That’s fine,” Liang Xiaoyu said with a deep bow. “Thank you, Mr. Qiao.”
…
Zero seemed to have a knack for putting on airs—after another glance at Qiao Mian, the group’s eyes were filled with even more reverence.
Qiao Mian secretly regretted it: If he’d known, he wouldn’t have shown up and would’ve let Zero handle the tour alone.
Lack of experience, he thought to himself, and addressed everyone, “Have you all finished the tour?”
“Thank you for the invitation, Mr. Qiao,” Wang Lang said. “It was well worth the trip.”
“That’s good,” Qiao Mian replied with a smile. “Any other questions?”
“When will your park open?” Wang Lang asked with concern.
“One month from now,” Qiao Mian answered.
In another week, his contract would reach a year, and he’d be able to unlock a new dimension.
By then, he’d have to process the spoils from the new dimension, set everything up properly, and launch with great fanfare.
“Any restrictions? How will tickets be sold?” Wang Lang continued.
“Onsite queuing,” Qiao Mian said. “For now, we’ll limit it to five hundred visitors per day.”
He had no experience with this sort of thing, so he was following Zero’s advice.
“Onsite queuing, then.” Wang Lang quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
That would make things easier to control.
He opened his mouth, wanting to suggest sending some people to help out for free after opening, but a glance at Qiao Mian—whose Iron Man suit concealed his expression completely—made him hesitate.
“Forget it. If he thinks I’m pushing my luck, that won’t be good,” Wang Lang thought.
“I’ll have her notify you of the details when the time comes,” Qiao Mian said, pointing at Liang Xiaoyu.
The others were stunned.
They couldn’t help recalling how Liang Xiaoyu had ended her stream early and slipped away from the crowd…
“So that’s how she made the connection,” Wang Lang thought, stealing a quick glance at the two.
Life is just about wealth, beauty, fame, and fortune—this guy lacks for none of them, and Earthly riches mean nothing to him. Looks like he’s after beauty.
As expected!
Wang Lang quietly took note.
Wang Yangzhe thought of his youngest daughter, sadly remembering she’d taken after him in looks.
Reflecting on his own plain appearance, he felt like pounding his chest to pieces.

“I’ll have to beat that brat up when I get home!” In Yang Xu’s mind, his son’s face flashed by.
Good-looking, yes, but unfortunately a boy.
Zhang Fei stood silently in place.
Scenes from today flashed through his mind like a movie.
He’d only been selected to enter here thanks to his extraordinary memory.
He’d be busy for a while, thinking back on all this.
“Bumblebee, see them out,” Qiao Mian said.
“Of course, Mr. Qiao.” Bumblebee, who had been quietly serving as a sports car, rolled over, and the doors popped open.
“Please get in,” it said.
Liang Xiaoyu looked at Qiao Mian with pleading eyes. “I’ll just stay here, then?”
“As you wish,” Qiao Mian replied. “In a bit, go to the office building and find Zero. It’ll arrange your lodgings.”
He paused, then added, “As for food, you’ll have to handle it yourself. You can have your family airlift supplies over if needed.”
Liang Xiaoyu nodded her head like a bobblehead.
“Oh, right.” Qiao Mian called out to the four already squeezing into the car.
They all looked back at him.
“I’d planned to prepare some gifts for you, but seeing how you’ve stuffed your pockets…” He spread his hands. “In that case, consider those things as your souvenirs.”
The four of them were thick-skinned—none showed the slightest embarrassment.
Wang Lang even saluted him. “Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Qiao.”
“You’re too kind,” Qiao Mian replied.
He had actually considered asking them to send people over to help out for the first month after opening, but then decided that would be too shameless and didn’t bring it up.
Watching the group leave, Qiao Mian turned his gaze back to Liang Xiaoyu.
The streamer had already taken out her selfie stick.
Qiao Mian hesitated, then gave up on the idea of taking her to his office to play games.
He had only been toying with the thought, anyway.
He stood lost in thought for a while, and only after confirming that Wang Lang and the others had left the park did he fly back to his office.
Settling onto the soft sofa, a three-dimensional map of the park automatically appeared before him.
“Zero, help me plan a suitable tour route,” he ordered.
“Yes, Mr. Qiao.”
Colored lines immediately appeared on the map, six in all, departing from the ticket hall, circling the Dinosaur Park, the Python House, and the Administrative Center, each taking a different path.
“The cost for each?” Qiao Mian asked.
Text matching the color of each line appeared above them.
The cheapest route cost 888 game coins; the most expensive, 2013 game coins.
Qiao Mian thought for a moment, then decided to add two more routes.
Altogether, it cost him less than three thousand game coins.
