Chapter 86: Revolution and Rebellion
After successfully delivering the gift to Huang Yaoshi, Wang Lang proceeded to distribute the rest of the presents he had prepared. Each gift was tailored to its recipient, with some differences according to their personalities and preferences.
For Huang Yaoshi, he had chosen a large-caliber handgun. In contrast, the pistol given to Xiaolongnü was more compact, with an elegant design in white and pink, making it quite beautiful. Beyond the handgun, her gifts also included a finely crafted tea set, a deluxe edition of "Das Kapital," and a gorgeously decorated longsword.
Standing nearby, Qiao Mian couldn't help but steal a glance. When he saw "Das Kapital" being presented, his eyelid twitched violently. What on earth was this fellow planning?
Hong Qigong's gift was similar to Huang Yaoshi's, except the jade flute was replaced with a metal cane equipped with several high-tech features. As for the Old Mischief Maker, his present was a pile of bizarre but proper adult toys, which delighted him immensely. Huang Rong's gifts consisted mainly of fashionable clothes and accessories from Earth.
The Transformers received records, magazines, and other memorabilia from Earth tailored to their hobbies. The beasts were given small portions of gourmet food or figurines of themselves.
As for Guo Jing...
"What is this?" Guo Jing opened a wooden chest and looked at the black, drone-like but far heavier object inside.
Wang Lang smiled and explained, "This is a type of remote-controlled flying bomb. The instructions are right next to it. It's actually a hybrid between a military drone and a miniature missile..."
"With just one, you could precisely obliterate a Mongolian encampment from dozens of miles away," he added conservatively, mindful of the differences between their worlds.
Guo Jing was visibly shaken.
"And this one?" Guo Jing asked, regarding the even larger object.
"This is a portable missile system with an effective range of five li," Wang Lang said, picking it up with one hand. "Its power is similar to the remote-controlled bomb, and it can also lock onto and attack targets from a distance."
"Honestly, in your world, these things are a bit of an overkill," Wang Lang continued, producing a mighty-looking rifle and handing it to Guo Jing. Seeing the curiosity in Guo Jing's eyes, he explained, "This is an automatic rifle with an effective range of four hundred meters. It comes standard with five magazines, each holding thirty rounds..."
He then guided Guo Jing to disengage the safety and indicated he should fire at a distant target.
Guo Jing took a breath, then squeezed the trigger.
Bang, bang, bang!
Flames spat from the muzzle, and chips of wood flew from a distant tree trunk. Before long, with a sharp crack, the trunk snapped in two.
Startled, Guo Jing shouted, "Everyone, take cover!"
But before the others could react, the tree seemed to be lifted by an invisible force, slowly moved aside, and then toppled gently to the ground.
On the opposite side, Qiao Mian nodded at them with a smile.
"Thank you, Mr. Qiao," Wang Lang said quickly.
"No trouble. Please, carry on," Qiao Mian replied.
Guo Jing turned his attention back to the metallic chest before him. Unlike the others, his chest was packed with items.
Wang Lang picked up a submachine gun and said, "This is a micro submachine gun. Its capacity and range are a bit less than the automatic rifle, but it's lighter and smaller, making it easy to carry."
"This is called a hand grenade—one is enough to throw your enemies into disarray."
"And this..."
After introducing four or five more items, Wang Lang finally brought out a colossal weapon.
Guo Jing, seeing its rugged build, felt a surge of excitement. The automatic rifle had already felled a great tree—what could this mighty thing do?
"This is called a Gatling gun," Wang Lang announced. "It's a lethal weapon. With your martial prowess, you could take on the entire Mongolian army alone with this!"
"Is it really that powerful?" Guo Jing asked, his interest piqued.
"Haha, these heavy machine guns have high rates of fire and long range, but their recoil is immense. That's why many armies on Earth don't use them. But with your martial arts, it's perfect for you," Wang Lang said with a laugh.
He explained how to operate the Gatling gun.
Soon, Qiao Mian watched as Guo Jing hefted the Gatling and unleashed a torrent of fire into the distance. With the thunderous roar of the gun and blue flames erupting from the muzzle, a distant mound was pounded flat in moments.
Guo Jing put down the Gatling, exhilarated. "This is truly a divine artifact!"
"Do you like these things, Hero Guo?" Wang Lang asked with a smile.
Guo Jing nodded. He had already guessed Wang Lang's intention.
"I have some gold and silver, as well as martial arts manuals not yet recorded in the Sutra Pavilion," Guo Jing said. "How should I exchange them?"
"You're straightforward, Hero Guo!" Wang Lang replied. "These are just a tiny fraction of the firearms we have on Earth. I'll gather some more for you later."
Guo Jing had long been singled out by experts as the most suitable trading partner, which was why Wang Lang had prepared such a varied array of gifts. Initially, he had only intended to make preliminary contact, not realizing that staff from the Fantasy Park were already able to bring items from their own worlds for exchange.
Upon learning this from Liang Xiaoyu, he realized the deal could begin immediately.
"When can we do it?" Guo Jing asked urgently.
"Tomorrow," Wang Lang replied. "You can consider what you have to offer—gold and silver aren't so important."
Guo Jing nodded.
"However," Wang Lang mused, "in your world, if you rely solely on these firearms, even if you drive the Mongols away, you won't solve the root of the problem, will you?"
"The root?" Guo Jing was puzzled.
"Have you looked outside?" Wang Lang asked.
"Miss Long took us out the evening before last," Guo Jing replied, a little embarrassed. To avoid attention, he had changed into Earth attire and braided his long hair. It was an odd feeling.
"Do you think that after the Mongols are gone, your world will become like ours?" Wang Lang asked.
Guo Jing shook his head. He had been stunned by the way Earth people lived. Along the way, he'd seen only one beggar, who, despite having a bag of delicious-smelling snacks called mahua in front of him, was caught secretly throwing them away.
Unbelievable!
"Have you ever wondered why the two worlds are so different?" Wang Lang continued.
Guo Jing ventured, "Because people here are smarter?"
Wang Lang was speechless. So typically honest of Hero Guo.
Huang Rong, meanwhile, mused thoughtfully, "Could it be the power of technology you mentioned?"
"That's part of it, but not all," Wang Lang replied. "We don't have emperors here!"
No emperors!
Guo Jing was visibly shaken. "Are you suggesting I stage a rebellion?"
"No, a revolution!" Wang Lang grinned. "You can give it some thought, Hero Guo. If you wish, we’re willing to help, free of charge."
Guo Jing fell silent, his gaze flickering as he hesitated.
...
