Qiao Mian carefully examined the descriptions of each key item.

The Basic Hypnosis Technique allowed him to hypnotize anyone whose willpower did not exceed his own. Once successfully hypnotized, he could command the person to do anything—such as crawling on the ground like a dog, wagging their head and tail and calling him “Dad”…

The Basic Foresight skill let him see any event in the next three seconds that would pose a serious negative impact on himself—an invaluable life-saving skill if used wisely.

Qiao Mian thought that this ability would be especially effective in competitions.

The Basic Healing Technique could accelerate wound healing, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and cure common ailments like colds, rhinitis, and pharyngitis—clearly, an essential skill for travel. According to the description, it could even remove scars, which would surely be a hit among women.

As for the haunted house…

Inside were all sorts of terrifying scenes, with the ability to station evil spirits there, which would even benefit the ghosts’ existence. Ordinary people could strengthen their courage by entering; even if they were scared to death and came out, they would be completely unharmed. And if one managed to make it through…

“Why is it that after clearing the haunted house, you can buy souvenirs?” Qiao Mian frowned. “Isn’t a separate shop module needed?”

Zero’s response was cold: “Players can choose to disable this function.”

Disable it?

Impossible! With this feature, wouldn’t hordes of people line up for the haunted house? If they truly had the courage to survive it and gained the right to buy those three superpowers, he wouldn’t lose out at all.

He would earn even more.

“Excellent!” Qiao Mian pumped his fist.

But when he read the key character “Sadako”’s introduction, he felt oddly conflicted.

According to the description, Sadako was nothing like the beautiful ghost he had imagined, but rather a patient with a feminization syndrome.

In short, she was a stunningly beautiful androgynous ghost.

She possessed what men had, and what women had as well.

Self-sufficient, so to speak.

“Isn’t that different from the movie?” Qiao Mian wondered.

Zero replied, “This dimension is a fusion of the novel and film universes.”

“Novel?” Qiao Mian was surprised.

“Players may search for information,” Zero said.

Qiao Mian hesitantly took out his phone.

After a while, he shook his head in disappointment.

A horror movie turned out to be adapted from a science fiction novel.

Who would believe it!

Yet it sounded rather interesting.

He recalled a saying he’d once heard: “If you’re brave enough, Sadako will go on maternity leave.”

He wondered if anyone would ever try it.

Ignoring the reproductive barrier between humans and ghosts, it did seem possible.

Though perhaps you’d need to defeat her in a fencing match before earning the right to spawn a ghost child.

After a moment’s thought, Qiao Mian decided to contact Sadako.

Aside from being a little creepy, he was rather curious about this ghost.

After some cross-dimensional communication—

Roughly fifteen minutes later.

A ghastly pale figure appeared before Qiao Mian.

Under the light, she cast no shadow.

Nor did Qiao Mian.

The office lighting was arranged much like shadowless lamps.

“Mr. Qiao?” she spoke, her voice unexpectedly pleasant.

The moment she accepted the invitation to join the Fantasy Park, she had been instantly imbued with fluency in Chinese.

Qiao Mian felt a little unnerved.

Even standing right in front of him, she still looked like a classic ghost.

Couldn’t she lift her head?

Couldn’t she brush aside her hair?

Suppressing his nerves and striving for composure, he activated his shield, which reformed and shifted shape.

While quietly observing Sadako—who called herself “all-powerful,” promising him companionship and that he would never feel alone again—he sensed a strange force stir. It lifted the black hair shrouding her face.

A delicate-featured “woman,” eyes full of curiosity.

So this was Sadako’s true face?

Qiao Mian nodded to himself. Seeing the ghost’s real appearance, he wasn’t nearly as frightened as he’d imagined.

Sadako tried to move, only to find her body utterly unresponsive. Even though her form was spiritual, untouchable by anything, she was rooted to the spot, motionless.

Recalling that bizarre incident after accepting the invitation, she realized her new acquaintance was no fraud.

Mr. Qiao hailed from the East.

Could he really be one of those legendary immortals?

“Would you like something to drink?” Qiao Mian asked.

Sadako said nothing.

With the shield, Qiao Mian formed a floating cube, levitating a bottle of milk tea before Sadako.

He had become very adept at using the shield since upgrading his privileges—immobilizing objects, telekinesis, even flight.

Sadako was astonished.

In life she’d possessed supernatural powers, but nothing like this.

A heavier sense of foreboding settled over her.

Once her right hand regained movement, she took the milk tea, opened it, and took a sip.

“Thank you,” she said.

Qiao Mian was a bit surprised.

He’d just been testing her; he hadn’t expected a ghost could actually drink milk tea.

How did she digest it?

“You’re welcome,” Qiao Mian waved it off. “Have a seat.”

Sadako tucked her legs under her, carefully sitting on the sofa like a true lady.

The sofa didn’t so much as dent beneath her.

“Do you have any other questions about this place?” Qiao Mian asked.

Sadako glanced at him, then asked, “Was everything you said before true? That I could have many friends here, and even be resurrected as a normal person?”

“Of course,” Qiao Mian replied. “So long as you earn enough money, not to mention being resurrected as a woman—even becoming an immortal is within reach.”

Sadako’s eyes flickered.

Qiao Mian snapped his fingers.

A three-dimensional holographic screen appeared in the room, showing King Kong wandering through the dinosaur park, hefting a tree trunk.

“This is our employee number one, King Kong,” Qiao Mian explained. “He’s a massive beast with human intellect, who lived in solitude until he came here and made new friends.”

The surveillance screen panned to reveal a rampaging tyrannosaur walking alongside King Kong.

“And then there are these.”

The view shifted to a group of Transformers gathered in the center of the fitness plaza.

Optimus Prime was lying on the ground, recharging.

Bumblebee was simulating a guzheng, strumming and singing a tune called “Pick Your Teeth.” Jazz was swaying from side to side, dancing.

Elsewhere, Drift was gracefully sword-dancing as Perceptor cheered.

Nearby, Little Dragon Maiden sat cross-legged in a meditative pose, sneaking glances at her phone, while Liang Xiaoyu live-streamed Drift’s sword dance.

Huang Yaoshi frowned deeply at a copy of “Third Grade Mathematics” (People’s Education Press edition).

Hong Qigong tore into a pack of pickled chicken feet, grimacing at the sourness, while pointing out instructions to a volunteer who stood respectfully by.

Noticing Sadako’s curious gaze, Qiao Mian smiled. “Many of them aren’t human, but they’re living quite happily here as well.”

Sadako watched for a long time before finally nodding.

“Now, let me explain your work and compensation…” Qiao Mian began.

Sadako sat up straight, listening attentively.

She was curious what this so-called immortal, Mr. Qiao, had invited her here to do.

But as Qiao Mian spoke, her confusion grew.

A haunted house?

Scaring people?

“Are you asking me to murder humans?” Sadako asked, her eyes glinting with menace. “Wouldn’t there be simpler ways to kill?”

“Murder?” Qiao Mian was taken aback, then waved his hand with a laugh. “No, even if someone is literally scared to death in the haunted house, they’ll leave perfectly fine afterward.”

Sadako looked even more bewildered.

“It’s just a form of entertainment,” Qiao Mian explained, “to bring humans some novel, thrilling sensory experiences.”

He then had Zero play some highlights from the arena.

The footage from the other day, when Karina was once again ripped to shreds by a velociraptor.

After seeing that bloody scene, Sadako’s worldview was shattered.

“These people are even scarier than ghosts!” she thought, awestruck.

Seeing her wide-eyed, open-mouthed expression, Qiao Mian found it rather amusing.

What an adorable ghost.

Pity she was androgynous.
