Chapter 106: Yamamoto Ichiro
“I need Miss Bai’s assistance.” Qin Feng turned his head to look at Bai Ruoxi, the corner of his mouth curving into a playful smile.
Bai Ruoxi was stunned for a moment, then her pretty face flushed slightly, though she did not refuse.
“Okay, no problem!”
The old master Bai agreed without hesitation. To be honest, he had already treated Qin Feng as his future son-in-law. At worst, he could simply give Qin Feng some shares later!
“So that’s settled.”
Qin Feng stood up, walked over to Bai Ruoxi’s side, and whispered softly in her ear, “Miss Bai, pleasant cooperation.”
Bai Ruoxi felt a tingling sensation in her ears as a wave of heat rushed into them, causing her heartbeat to quicken.
“What… what are you doing!”
Bai Ruoxi pouted coquettishly, yet she did not dare meet Qin Feng’s gaze.
“Nothing,” Qin Feng smiled, “I merely want to tell you that from now on, you will be my assistant.”
“Assistant?” Bai Ruoxi paused in surprise. “What kind of assistant?”
“Obviously a life assistant, a work assistant, and…” Qin Feng deliberately paused, then exhaled a warm breath near Bai Ruoxi’s ear, “a personal assistant.”
Bai Ruoxi shivered, an indescribable sensation blooming in her heart…
“A personal assistant?”
Bai Ruoxi felt as though she had been struck by lightning. This Qin Feng truly did not treat her as an outsider!
She blushed furiously, wanting to protest, but Qin Feng seized the moment to pull her aside.
“What are you thinking? I’m afraid you’ll ruin my plans.”
Qin Feng leaned close to her ear, lowering his voice, “From now on, you are my eyes and ears. Understand?”
Bai Ruoxi’s ears tingled once more. Qin Feng’s breath brushed against her earlobe, making her instinctively shrink her neck.
She wanted to flare up, but the realization that Qin Feng was helping her grandfather—and that he was so near, his voice so pleasant—made her feel like a punctured balloon. She could only nod obediently.
“So obedient now.”
Qin Feng smiled with satisfaction and turned to the old master Bai.
“Old Master, for work convenience, I need a residence. Ideally, one inside the Bai family home, so I can protect Miss Bai’s safety at any moment.”
The old master Bai beamed with delight at the news. This young man was truly eager!
“But that’s fine. Wealth doesn’t flow to outsiders!”
“No problem! Butler, prepare a guest room and place it right next to Miss Ruoxi’s room!”
The old master Bai waved his hand decisively, granting approval on the spot.
Thus, Qin Feng officially moved into the Bai family home as Bai Ruoxi’s assistant.
The following day, Qin Feng began gathering evidence of the Wang family’s collusion with the Black Dragon Society. He instructed Bai Ruoxi to leverage her connections in the company to collect recent movements of the Wang family, particularly information regarding their overseas dealings.
Although Bai Ruoxi could appear somewhat spoiled and willful at times, as the young miss of the Bai family she still commanded considerable authority within the company. Within no time, she had amassed a thick stack of documents.
Qin Feng lounged on the sofa, legs crossed, leisurely flipping through the files.
Bai Ruoxi acted as a diligent little secretary, standing obediently nearby and occasionally serving him tea or refilling his water.
Qin Feng spotted a familiar name and was momentarily stunned. He turned to Bai Ruoxi.
“Go check whether the Wang family has grown very close to an islander named Yamamoto Ichiro lately.”
“Yamamoto Ichiro?”
Bai Ruoxi hesitated, as if she had heard the name before but couldn’t recall where.
“Is something wrong?” Qin Feng asked.
“No… nothing,” Bai Ruoxi shook her head and turned to leave.
Watching her depart, Qin Feng’s lips curved into a sly smile.
Yamamoto Ichiro was the Black Dragon Society’s representative in the capital. If the Wang family truly collaborated with them, Yamamoto Ichiro would serve as the most vital link between the two parties.
…
Qin Feng stared at the towering pile of documents, rubbing his temples.
Bai Ruoxi’s efficiency was high, yet her organizational skills left much to be desired… comparable to those of a dog kennel.
“Hey, who are you calling a dog kennel?” Bai Ruoxi planted her hands on her hips, grumbling. “I arranged everything chronologically!”
Qin Feng ignored her, casually picked up a file, and scanned it with a quick glance. A playful smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Ah, the Wang family really knows how to spend money—one outflow of over a hundred million. What a shame, it’s all gone to waste.”
Bai Ruoxi leaned in closer, spotting the name on the document and exclaiming, “Yamamoto Ichiro! It’s him. I found out he frequents a private club called Night Color. Apparently, there…”
“Fish and dragons mixed together, deep connections, right?”
Qin Feng picked up the thread, a glint flashing in his eyes. “It looks like we need to meet Mr. Yamamoto.”
…
The Night Color Club occupied the most prosperous stretch of the capital, its exterior low-key yet opulent, radiating an aloofness that repelled outsiders from a thousand miles away.
Gaining entry required far more than mere wealth—it demanded identity, status, and… a membership card.
“What now? I don’t have a membership card!”
Bai Ruoxi stood at the entrance, gazing at the dazzling scene of lights and wine with clear distress.
“Don’t worry. I have a plan.”
Qin Feng smiled mysteriously, pulling a black card from his pocket and waving it before her eyes. “See? The omnipotent Qin Master. There is no place he cannot enter.”
Bai Ruoxi eyed the plain card with heavy skepticism. “Are you sure this will work? If they throw us out, it’ll be mortifying.”
“What do you know?”
Qin Feng waved away the question, handing the card to the bouncer at the door and murmuring a few words.
The bouncer, previously expressionless, changed color upon hearing Qin Feng’s instructions. He accepted the card respectfully and ushered them inside with bows and smiles.
Bai Ruoxi watched the scene in stunned silence.
The club’s interior glittered with decadence, the air thick with an atmosphere of luxury and vice. Exposed beauties moved gracefully among the crowd, while men clustered together in hushed tones, discussing matters no one should speak of aloud.
Qin Feng led Bai Ruoxi to the door of a private room on the second floor. Through the gap, he could faintly see two men seated inside—one being Wang Zong, the other short and stocky with a face full of rough features: Yamamoto Ichiro!
“Wang Zong, this matter still requires Mr. Yamamoto’s generous assistance!”
Wang Zong raised his glass, beaming obsequiously at Yamamoto Ichiro.
Yamamoto Ichiro accepted the drink but did not sip it. Instead, he swept the room with a greedy gaze and sneered, “Wang Zong, I’ve heard your family recently acquired something valuable. I’m curious when I’ll finally get to see it for myself.”
Wang Zong’s expression flickered. He forced a smile. “Mr. Yamamoto flatters us. Our Wang family has no such treasure—merely some worthless trinkets.”
“Wang Zong, stop pretending with me.”
