Chapter 138: The Other Side of the World
"Are you saying... that in this world, there really are martial artists with such extraordinary skills, capable of leaping onto roofs and vaulting over walls?"
Qin Feng frowned slightly. He had always assumed such things were merely myths, never imagining they could exist in reality.
Bai Ruoxi looked up at Qin Feng, her eyes brimming with tears. "It's true. I saw that master in action with my own eyes. It was... it was simply like witnessing a god!"
"And... that master? Where is he now?" Qin Feng asked. If such a martial artist truly existed, he should be able to help the Bai family resolve their current predicament.
"I don't know..." Bai Ruoxi shook her head. "Ever since we handed the He's Jade to him last time, he hasn't appeared again. I've sent people everywhere to inquire, but there's been no word of him..."
"What?" Qin Feng felt a jolt of alarm, a dark premonition rising in his heart. "Do you mean... it's possible that master has abandoned the Bai family?"
Bai Ruoxi bit her lip and remained silent, but her expression said everything.
Qin Feng took a deep breath. He knew this was not the time to dwell on such things; the priority was to find out the whereabouts of that martial artist and why he would abandon the Bai family.
"Ruoxi, don't worry. I will find a way to locate that master," Qin Feng comforted her. "Rest assured, I will protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you."
Bai Ruoxi looked up at Qin Feng, her eyes misty. "Qin Feng, thank you..."
Qin Feng smiled. "We're friends, aren't we? No need for thanks."
With that, he helped Bai Ruoxi sit on the sofa and poured her a glass of water. "Rest for a moment; I'm going to check the study."
Qin Feng walked into the study, closed the door, and furrowed his brows. He recalled the techniques inherited from the Taoist Tongbao. Beyond the art of appraising treasures, he had also gained a miraculous ability: the Eyes of Insight. This power allowed him to see through all illusions—whether it was the authenticity of antiques and paintings, or the kindness or malice in a human heart, nothing could escape his gaze. However, this ability required immense mental energy to sustain, and with his current level of cultivation, he could not fully master it.
"If I could fully control the Eyes of Insight, perhaps I could find the whereabouts of that martial artist..." Qin Feng muttered to himself. "But my strength is still too weak..."
At that moment, Qin Feng suddenly sensed a powerful presence approaching rapidly, and its target was right here!
"No! Someone's coming!" Qin Feng's expression changed. Without a second thought, he flung the door open and rushed out.
"Ruoxi, watch out!"
Qin Feng reacted in an instant. He pulled Bai Ruoxi aside while simultaneously shoving the heavy desk toward the window. With a thunderous crash, the glass shattered into fragments. Almost simultaneously, several dark figures burst through the window, lunging straight at Bai Ruoxi.
"Damn it, they came so fast!" Qin Feng cursed under his breath, shielding Bai Ruoxi behind him as he confronted the attackers. These men were well-trained and ruthless, each strike aimed at a vital point. Yet, to Qin Feng, their movements were laid bare.
"Eyes of Insight, activate!" Qin Feng commanded inwardly, a faint golden light flashing in his eyes. He could see every move, every subtle muscle twitch, and even the trajectory of their next attacks.
"Tricks of a child!" A cold sneer played on Qin Feng’s lips. He evaded their attacks with ghost-like agility, seizing the perfect moment to unleash a barrage of punches and kicks.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Dull thuds echoed through the study. Despite their training, the attackers stood no chance against Qin Feng’s foresight. One by one, they were sent flying, groaning in agony. Within moments, the once-menacing figures lay on the floor, writhing in pain.
"Are you okay?" Qin Feng turned to ask, full of concern. Bai Ruoxi was pale, clearly shaken by the scene, but she shook her head. "I'm fine..."
Seeing she was only frightened and not physically harmed, Qin Feng let out a sigh of relief. He looked around the room; it was a mess, littered with broken glass and the debris of the fight.
"Who are these people? Why did they attack you?" Qin Feng asked, his eyes flashing with a cold glint.
Bai Ruoxi shook her head. "I don't know them..." She bit her lip, as if something had occurred to her. "Could it be... could it be people who hold a grudge against our family?"
"That's possible," Qin Feng mused. "It seems you can't stay here for the time being. I need to move you to a safe place."
"But... where can I go?" Bai Ruoxi asked helplessly.
"Don't worry, I'll make arrangements," Qin Feng comforted her. "Pack your things; I'll be back shortly."
With that, Qin Feng stepped out of the study and into the courtyard, where he dialed Zhang Hu’s number. "Hey, Hu, where are you?"
"Brother Feng, I just arrived at Tianfeng Pavilion. What's up?" Zhang Hu’s honest voice came through the phone.
"I've run into some trouble and need you over here," Qin Feng said in a low, firm voice. "I'll send you the address. Bring a few guys, and be quick!"
"Got it, Brother Feng, I'll be there in a flash!"
After hanging up, Qin Feng returned to the study to find Bai Ruoxi had already packed a simple suitcase. "Let's go," he said, taking the suitcase. "I'm taking you somewhere safe."
Bai Ruoxi nodded and followed him out of the villa. An hour later, they arrived at a secluded private club. This establishment belonged to Yang Tianchen, making it absolutely secure.
"What is this place?" Bai Ruoxi asked curiously.
"Don't worry, it's very safe here," Qin Feng assured her. "Stay here for now. Once I've handled things, I'll come to pick you up."
Bai Ruoxi nodded. "Then... you must be careful."
"Hmm." Qin Feng smiled. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
After settling Bai Ruoxi in, Qin Feng rushed back to the villa. He carefully inspected the scene, only to find the intruders hadn't left any valuable clues.
"It seems these people are professional killers," Qin Feng muttered, his brows locked in a tight frown. "Who sent them, and what is their objective?"
Just then, Zhang Hu arrived with several of his men. "Brother Feng, we're here!" Zhang Hu panted.
Qin Feng nodded. "You've arrived just in time. Help me investigate these people's identities—the faster, the better!"
"Understood!" Zhang Hu took the photos Qin Feng handed him and turned to his men. "Listen up, everyone, stay alert! We must find out who these people are!"
"Yes!"
