Chapter Sixty-Seven: Farewell, Bai Ruoxi
Qin Feng glanced at him indifferently, not letting his guard down despite the other’s courteous manner. His tone remained calm as he replied, “Qin Feng.”
“So it’s Brother Qin—what a pleasure!” Li Nan’s smile did not falter. “I can see your skills are extraordinary; you must hail from a renowned school, yes? May I ask who your master is?”
Qin Feng shook his head. “I belong to no school.”
“Oh? No school at all?” A sharp glint flashed in Li Nan’s eyes, though his smile remained unchanged. “Then you must truly be a prodigy!”
Qin Feng did not respond, simply watching him in silence, waiting to see what he would do next.
“In that case, you should be careful!” No sooner had Li Nan spoken than his figure shot forward like a pouncing leopard, lunging straight at Qin Feng.
“Xingyi Boxing—Beng Quan!” Li Nan’s fist thundered toward Qin Feng’s chest, the force howling with a fierce and domineering might. Had this punch landed, even a stone would have been shattered.
Qin Feng saw the attack, but remained unhurried. With a slight shift of his foot, his body slid aside like a wraith, effortlessly evading Li Nan’s blow.
“What speed!” Li Nan was startled, but he recovered quickly. Missing his first strike, he immediately changed tactics, turning his fist into a palm and swinging for Qin Feng’s chest.
“Pi Quan!” This palm strike carried the weight and momentum of a collapsing mountain, as if to flatten Qin Feng on the spot.
Yet Qin Feng’s expression did not change. Once more, he shifted lightly, dodging Li Nan’s attack as easily as a feather drifting on the breeze.
“What exquisite footwork!” The audience erupted in gasps of astonishment.
Missing twice in quick succession, Li Nan grew even more surprised. He had not expected this unremarkable-looking young man to possess such unfathomable skill.
“It seems I’ve underestimated you!” Li Nan drew a deep breath, his eyes blazing with fighting spirit. “But now, I’ll stop holding back!”
With those words, Li Nan’s aura changed abruptly. A fierce and incisive energy burst from within him, sharp as a drawn sword, its edge undisguised.
“Again!” he growled, his form shifting—soaring like a flood dragon, both palms transformed into dragon claws as he swept down at Qin Feng with a tearing might. This was Li Nan’s true strength.
Qin Feng’s eyes grew solemn, no longer daring to take his opponent lightly.
“Well done!” he called.
Instead of retreating, Qin Feng advanced. Clenching his right fist, he punched directly into Li Nan’s palm.
There was a thunderous crash. Li Nan felt as though he had been struck by a speeding truck. His body was hurled backward, crashing heavily at the edge of the stage. His face turned pale, and a trickle of blood escaped the corner of his mouth.
“How can this be?” Li Nan stared at Qin Feng in disbelief. He simply could not comprehend how his most powerful attack had been so easily neutralized.
“Who on earth are you?” Struggling to his feet, Li Nan looked at Qin Feng with terror in his eyes, finally realizing he had kicked a steel plate this time.
Qin Feng glanced at him dispassionately. “I only came for a friendly match—why force the issue?”
“A friendly match?” Li Nan almost spat blood in his fury. “You call this a friendly match? You’re clearly here to cause trouble!”
Qin Feng ignored his anger, replying evenly, “If you’re not convinced, we can continue.”
“You…” Li Nan’s face turned ashen with rage, but there was nothing he could do. He now knew he was no match for Qin Feng.
At that moment, a voice interrupted their contest.
“Enough! This is a martial demonstration, not a life-and-death duel! What do you think you’re doing?”
The speaker was Liu Yunsheng. He had brought Qin Feng to broaden his horizons, not to make enemies among these prominent families.
At these words, Li Nan’s anger cleared instantly. As a scion of a great family, he could be magnanimous—he had only lost his temper because of Qin Feng’s provocation.
“Well then, Brother Qin, I concede.” Before the words had left his mouth, Li Nan had already stepped down from the stage.
With Li Nan’s defeat, no one else dared to step forward. One by one, they conceded and left. In this situation, even a fool could see that challenging Qin Feng was only asking for humiliation.
Though Qin Feng seemed arrogant, he certainly had earned the right.
At that moment, Liu Yunsheng approached Qin Feng with a genial smile. “You did well today. But these young men from the great families are not to be trifled with. Don’t act impulsively in the future.”
Qin Feng was taken aback for a moment, but soon understood Liu Yunsheng’s meaning. He smiled and replied, “Thank you for the advice, Elder Liu. I’ll remember it.”
“Good. Come with me.” Liu Yunsheng waved for Qin Feng to follow, and together they left the stage, heading straight for the center of the hall.
All eyes in the room turned toward them.
“Grandpa Liu, it’s been so long!” As Liu Yunsheng and Qin Feng appeared at the heart of the banquet, a young woman hurried over, her bright, pretty face alight with joy.
She wore a snow-white dress, her lustrous black hair cascading over her shoulders, giving her an air of grace and fresh elegance.
But Qin Feng froze when he saw her. She was none other than the nurse who had helped him at the hospital—Bai Ruoxi.
“Ruoxi?” Qin Feng was startled. “What are you doing here?”
Bai Ruoxi smiled sweetly. “I came especially for the banquet!”
“Oh?” Qin Feng raised an eyebrow, as if realizing something. “Don’t tell me—you’re the young lady of the Bai family?”
“You two know each other?” Liu Yunsheng glanced from Qin Feng to Bai Ruoxi, a strange suspicion rising in his heart. He couldn’t shake the feeling that there was some connection between them.
Bai Ruoxi nodded lightly, a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Qin Feng couldn’t help but marvel at what a small world it was.
He smiled and said, “In that case, I really must thank you for what you did before. If not for your help, Jade Pavilion would have been seized by the Wen family long ago.”
Qin Feng truly felt grateful. At the time, the Wen family had driven Jade Pavilion to desperation; had Baiyun Group not injected capital in time, it would have changed hands already.
“It was nothing. Besides, aren’t we friends?” Bai Ruoxi smiled gently, her beautiful eyes resting on Qin Feng’s profile. “How are you now?”
Qin Feng shook his head and chuckled, shrugging easily. “I’m doing well.”
As he finished speaking, he glanced around and noticed the atmosphere was growing awkward. Many people were staring at him.
“Ahem, well, why don’t we go to the lounge for a while?” Qin Feng cleared his throat and led the way toward the rest area.
Seeing this, Liu Yunsheng immediately said, “You young people go on and chat. This old man won’t intrude—I have some matters to attend to.” With that, he patted Qin Feng on the shoulder with a friendly smile and melted into the crowd.
Qin Feng and Bai Ruoxi were left to walk side by side toward the lounge.
