Chapter Sixty-Six: The Third-Rate Family
This Wen family, is it really just a third-rate clan?
“Heh, Qin Feng, let me tell you, things aren’t as simple as they seem on the surface,” Liu Yunsheng said with a meaningful smile.
Qin Feng pursed his lips and didn’t press any further.
“Oh? This Li Nan is that strong?” Qin Feng asked, intrigued.
“You’ll find out soon enough. But don’t say I didn’t warn you—if you don’t make it into the top three, don’t blame this old man for turning hostile,” Liu Yunsheng chuckled.
Upon hearing this, Qin Feng felt a pang of bitterness. Though Liu Yunsheng was a friend of his master, Yan Lao, he was notorious for his childish temperament and explosive temper—when he lost his cool, it was never pleasant.
Qin Feng cursed inwardly at this troublemaker.
“All right,” he replied, shrugging his shoulders. Despite the strength of these people, he believed he could still clinch a spot in the top three.
“Hm?” Suddenly, Qin Feng noticed Li Nan glancing at him out of the corner of his eye.
Qin Feng arched his brow. Was Li Nan planning to target him?
Li Nan was the second son of the Li family’s main branch, only twenty years old.
“Who else?” At that moment, Yang Tianchen had already defeated three challengers and was looking down at the crowd with a smug expression.
The scene fell silent; no one dared to step forward.
“I’ll go!” A voice rang out from the crowd below.
Everyone turned to see a young stranger step out from among them—it was Qin Feng.
His appearance drew surprised looks from the onlookers. Qin Feng had never participated in any previous matches, so they were all a bit puzzled.
“Is this kid not afraid of dying? He actually volunteered!”
“We couldn’t beat him; this guy’s going to get battered.”
“Heh! I bet he just wants to show off!”
“What an idiot—doesn’t even know his own limits. He’ll be crying soon enough.”
…
The crowd murmured among themselves, most believing Qin Feng was overestimating himself.
Only Liu Yunsheng remained silent.
“Kid, I advise you not to court trouble,” Yang Tianchen said, holding back from attacking immediately.
Though proud, Yang Tianchen was not ruthless. He saw no need to go all out against someone weaker than himself.
Qin Feng regarded him with newfound respect. Most of those he’d encountered before were vicious, striking to kill without hesitation.
“Don’t worry, just use your full strength—I’ll take it,” Qin Feng said, lowering his stance, calm and unperturbed.
“Arrogant!” Yang Tianchen barked, suddenly lunging toward Qin Feng.
His speed was astonishing, a dark blur streaking straight for Qin Feng.
“Good!” Qin Feng narrowed his eyes, ready for the attack.
Yang Tianchen’s palms struck together—his left hand, sharp as an eagle’s talons, reached for Qin Feng, while his right, fierce as a dragon’s head, came crashing down.
Two waves of force surged forward, whipping Qin Feng’s clothes with their intensity.
“This guy’s got some skill,” Qin Feng thought, his eyes gleaming. He could sense that Yang Tianchen’s strength was close to his own.
But for Qin Feng, it was no pressure at all.
The two forces collided, producing a crackling sound like beans frying.
Thump!
Yang Tianchen staggered back several steps, his gaze growing solemn.
Qin Feng, meanwhile, stood unmoved.
After just two exchanges, Qin Feng had stabilized the situation, leaving Yang Tianchen’s face dark with frustration.
“Bravo!” The crowd erupted in cheers.
As expected of a scion of the Yang family of the capital, Yang Tianchen’s strength was extraordinary.
“Again!” Yang Tianchen shouted, channeling his spiritual energy to the limit and throwing a punch.
This blow was far more powerful than before.
Yet Qin Feng’s expression remained indifferent. He stamped his right foot, harnessing the rebound, then swung his right fist straight forward.
A boom echoed in the air—two terrifying forces clashed.
Qin Feng retreated half a step.
Yang Tianchen staggered back five or six steps before coming to a halt.
This time, Yang Tianchen’s face turned paler than ever.
“How is this guy so formidable?” Yang Tianchen was shaken.
He had never heard of Qin Feng before—not even which sect he belonged to.
“Again!” Yang Tianchen roared and charged once more.
Qin Feng shook his head, impatient, and raised his right foot—there was a thunderous sound as Yang Tianchen was sent flying.
“Ow!” Yang Tianchen clutched his stomach, groaning. That kick had been merciless, leaving him with cramps.
Everyone stared in shock at Qin Feng on the stage. This stranger had actually injured Yang Tianchen!
Yang Tianchen, famed as one of the top talents of the capital’s Yang family, had been hurt here—and it looked serious. Was this fellow truly hiding his strength?
“You, you…” Yang Tianchen glared at Qin Feng, full of resentment.
Qin Feng glanced at him and said coolly, “I’m only here to spar. If you’re not convinced, we can keep fighting.”
“I concede!” Yang Tianchen gritted his teeth. He wasn’t stupid—Qin Feng’s strength was clearly far greater than his appearance suggested.
If he kept pushing, he might lose half his life today.
“Thank you for the match,” Qin Feng said, bowing.
Yet Yang Tianchen bore no grudge. Instead, he laughed boisterously.
“Haha, don’t thank me yet. Soon you’ll wish you hadn’t, and your strength is impressive.”
His words left Qin Feng a little puzzled.
But soon Qin Feng understood, for Li Nan was looking at him with a friendly smile.
“Ha, brother, you’re quite formidable!”
Despite his words, Li Nan stepped onto the stage.
As soon as Li Nan appeared, the crowd burst into enthusiastic applause.
Unlike their unfamiliarity with Qin Feng, they evidently knew Li Nan well.
“Looks like Young Master Li wants to teach this kid a lesson! This should be good!”
“Of course! That kid was way too harsh, even injuring Young Master Yang. Does he really think this is a place where anyone can run wild?”
“No matter how strong he is, he won’t get off easy!”
The audience buzzed with discussion, their words full of disdain for Qin Feng and admiration for Li Nan.
Li Nan stood opposite Qin Feng, his face friendly as he cupped his hands in greeting. “Brother, your skills are impressive! I am Li Nan, from the Li family of the capital. May I ask your name?”
