Chapter Thirteen: The World of the Wealthy
The next morning.
After Bai Ruoxi arrived at work, the first thing she did was inform Qin Feng that his mother's surgery had been scheduled for three days later.
Since he didn't have anything pressing to do, Qin Feng decided to report to Jade Pavilion.
"Hello, Miss Lin, I've arrived at the entrance."
Standing outside Jade Pavilion, Qin Feng dialed Lin Wanting's number.
"Please wait a moment, I'll come down to meet you right away."
"Alright," Qin Feng nodded and hung up.
Soon, a black van pulled up in front of him. The door slid open, revealing a pair of long, fair legs, accompanied by a delicate fragrance that drifted through the air.
Qin Feng turned his head, and when he saw the young woman stepping out of the car, he paused in surprise.
Because the one alighting was none other than Lin Wanting.
She had changed her attire, now wearing a pink dress and white high-heeled shoes, looking graceful and full of youthful energy.
"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?" Lin Wanting, noticing the hint of astonishment in Qin Feng's expression, smiled playfully.
He shook his head and replied, "No, you look beautiful!"
"Thank you," Lin Wanting beamed, her smile bright, her eyes sparkling with vitality and charm.
She was already of a petite and lively beauty; dressed like this, she appeared even more enchanting.
Qin Feng dared not meet her gaze directly. Lowering his head, he cleared his throat and said, "Miss Lin, so I should..."
Lin Wanting suppressed a laugh. "Come upstairs with me. I'll help you with the onboarding procedures."
Qin Feng nodded and followed her into the elevator. Following the building directory, they reached the top floor and entered a spacious, luxurious office.
Lin Wanting asked Qin Feng to wait about five minutes while she fetched the paperwork.
He sat quietly on the sofa. Soon, the sound of footsteps echoed, and Lin Wanting emerged holding a folder.
"Here are your documents. Once you've signed, you'll officially be a consultant at our Jade Pavilion Group," she said with a gentle smile, handing the papers to him.
Qin Feng nodded, signed his name swiftly, and returned the documents to her.
Lin Wanting glanced over the forms, frowning slightly in contemplation before saying, "Do you have any requirements for housing? If not, I still have a villa available at Riversea Gardens."
"???"
Qin Feng looked at Lin Wanting, who seemed somewhat conflicted, and couldn't help but feel like a nouveau riche. He'd still been debating whether to buy a house or a villa with his newly acquired funds, and here she was, simply offering him a villa.
Riversea Gardens was a high-end villa community. Though not as prestigious as South Ridge Manor, each property was still worth seven or eight million. And the location wasn't far from the hospital.
"I'm not picky," Qin Feng replied expressionlessly.
Seeing his reaction, Lin Wanting couldn't help but laugh.
"It seems you'll need some time to get used to this!"
As she spoke, she reached out and playfully poked Qin Feng's chest. "By the way, Elder Yan asked me to find out if you'd be interested in becoming his disciple."
At the mention of Elder Yan, Qin Feng's expression turned a little strange. It was understandable, given Elder Yan's status—of course he would sound out Qin Feng's intentions before making an official offer. Otherwise, if he extended the invitation and was refused, it would be rather awkward.
But Qin Feng looked genuinely surprised.
"Elder Yan wants to take me on as a disciple?"
His reaction caught Lin Wanting off guard for a moment, but then she grinned. "You don't want to become Elder Yan's disciple?"
"No, that's not it. I just didn't expect it," Qin Feng explained. Anyone who heard that Elder Yan had personally invited them to be his apprentice would find it a bit surreal.
"I figured you might not believe it," she said. "But since Elder Yan has spoken, if you're willing to learn, just go to him. Becoming his disciple will certainly be of great benefit to you."
With that, Lin Wanting set the documents back on the desk and stood up. "Well, from now on, you're officially a consultant at Jade Pavilion!"
"Do you have anything planned this afternoon? If not, it's a good time to visit Elder Yan."
"Uh, I have nothing else to do," Qin Feng replied, scratching his head awkwardly. He didn't even know what his duties as a consultant were, let alone have anything else to attend to.
"Good, then wait here a moment. I'll wrap up a few things, and then I'll go with you."
With that, Lin Wanting turned and went back into the CEO's office.
Ten minutes later, she reappeared.
"Let's go!"
"Alright!" Qin Feng nodded and followed her.
Lin Wanting tossed him the car keys, and together they drove to the outskirts of Riversea City, stopping outside an expansive private estate.
After getting out of the car, Lin Wanting led Qin Feng into the villa.
Inside, various rare and precious plants filled the grounds, infusing the air with a gentle fragrance.
In the living room sat an elderly man in his sixties. Beside him was a tea table laden with antique calligraphy and paintings, porcelain, and other collectibles. A lifelike statue of the Buddha stood nearby.
"Elder Yan!" Lin Wanting called as she entered the living room.
"Ha, so it seems Qin Feng has agreed!"
At the sound of her voice, Elder Yan turned to look at Qin Feng standing behind Lin Wanting, stroking his beard and laughing warmly.
"Good day, Elder Yan. I hope I'm not intruding," Qin Feng stepped forward, bowing respectfully.
"Excellent, excellent! Such humility and courtesy—truly a rough diamond," Elder Yan praised, stroking his beard. "Well then, let's not waste words. Are you willing to be my disciple?"
"To become your disciple would be my greatest honor," Qin Feng replied, his eyes shining with anticipation.
If Elder Yan was willing to teach him about jade, nothing could be better.
"Good!" Elder Yan let out a hearty laugh. Then, fixing his gaze on Qin Feng, he asked, "Qin Feng, do you know what I'm best at?"
Qin Feng hesitated. "Appraising jade?"
He knew there were countless varieties of jade—from raw jadeite to icy green glassy jade and beyond—each formed over centuries, all highly valuable. Elder Yan's expertise must surely be in this area.
"That's right." Elder Yan nodded with satisfaction. "I'm best at stone gambling, but what you don't know is that I'm even more skilled in carving!"
At this, Qin Feng looked at Lin Wanting in surprise. Honestly, he hadn't known that.
Afraid he might embarrass himself, Lin Wanting quickly explained, "Elder Yan is a titan in the world of carving, his craft unmatched. It's said that nearly a third of the world's finest jadeite was personally carved by him!"
