Chapter 83: Dominance
Qin Feng’s words were straightforward and incisive. Bai Chongshan’s expression changed slightly upon hearing them; he was well aware of Wang Teng’s character, but the alliance between the Bai and Wang families was more a matter of mutual interest than affection.
He sighed and spoke slowly, “Mr. Qin, you are absolutely right. I have heard much about Wang Teng’s conduct. Yet the cooperation between our families has been nurtured over many years and involves many entanglements. Dissolving the engagement is not an easy matter.”
“I understand Bai family’s difficulties, but Bai Ruoxi is your future. Her happiness matters as much,” Qin Feng replied firmly. “If you trust me, perhaps I can help with this.”
Bai Chongshan’s gaze flickered. He pondered in silence for a moment, and finally nodded. “If you truly can help Ruoxi escape this misery, the Bai family will be forever grateful. But the news has already spread, and should we suddenly retract, the Wang family’s influence cannot be underestimated.”
“Rest assured, I know how to handle it,” Qin Feng smiled faintly. “For now, let’s focus on your father’s recovery. Everything else can wait.”
Bai Chongshan nodded in agreement, then arranged for someone to take proper care of the elder Bai, and personally escorted Qin Feng out of the hospital. At their parting, he once more expressed his deep gratitude to Qin Feng, vowing the Bai family would never forget this kindness.
After leaving the hospital, Qin Feng drove to Bai Ruoxi’s residence as directed by Bai Chongshan. He knew that Ruoxi must be distraught, and as a friend, it was his duty to comfort her.
Half an hour later, his car stopped outside a luxurious villa. Just as he was about to knock, he heard Bai Ruoxi’s angry voice from inside.
“Wang Teng! Get out of here! You’re not welcome!”
Before her voice faded, another unfamiliar male voice rang out.
“Bai Ruoxi, your father has already agreed to our marriage. Soon, you’ll be mine!”
The words were barely spoken when Bai Ruoxi’s scream echoed through the villa.
“Damn it!”
Even a fool would understand what was happening, so Qin Feng rushed forward without hesitation.
With a loud bang, he kicked open the door and charged into the bedroom.
“All of you, get out right now! If anyone dares to touch Ruoxi, I’ll make sure they regret it!” he bellowed, storming toward the bed.
At that moment, Bai Ruoxi’s clothes were in disarray. She crouched in the corner, clutching her chest, tears streaming down her face.
Seeing Qin Feng burst in, she leaped into his arms like a drowning soul grasping at a lifeline, her voice trembling, “Qin Feng!”
“Yes, you’ve been frightened,” Qin Feng gently patted her shoulder.
“I’m so scared!” Bai Ruoxi sobbed, “I don’t want to marry Wang Teng! I’d rather die than agree to this marriage!”
Qin Feng shielded Bai Ruoxi behind him, sizing up the slick, pampered scion of the Wang family with a cold, disdainful smile.
“So you’re Wang Teng? You’re not much, are you?”
Wang Teng was enraged by Qin Feng’s merciless words, his face flushing as he pointed and shouted.
“Who the hell are you to meddle in my affairs? If you know what’s good for you, get lost, or else don’t blame me for being rough!”
“Rough? I’d like to see how you plan to be rough,” Qin Feng’s eyes glinted coldly. He stepped forward, grabbed Wang Teng by the collar, and lifted him like a helpless chick.
Wang Teng was startled by the sudden move. He struggled desperately, feet dangling off the ground, but it was useless—he could barely breathe.
“Let… let me go! What are you trying to do? I’m the Wang family’s heir! If you hurt me, you’ll pay dearly!”
“The Wang family? Is that supposed to impress me?” Qin Feng sneered, tightening his grip and hurling Wang Teng to the floor.
A dull thud sounded. Wang Teng felt as if his backside had shattered into pieces, pain contorting his face as cold sweat poured.
“You…” Wang Teng clutched his bruised rear, pointing at Qin Feng, unable to utter another word.
“What about me? Maybe you should ask around who I am!” Qin Feng towered over Wang Teng, his eyes full of contempt. “Someone like you, thinking you’re worthy of Ruoxi? Give up that fantasy.”
Wang Teng struggled to his feet, humiliated and furious, his eyes burning with venom as he glared at Qin Feng.
When had Wang Teng ever been subjected to such indignity, especially in front of Bai Ruoxi? He could not swallow this insult.
“You dare hit me? You must be tired of living!” Wang Teng barked, his bravado barely concealing his fear.
Qin Feng laughed coldly, “In my eyes, you’re nothing but a bully and a worthless coward.”
“You…” Wang Teng’s face darkened, his finger trembling as he pointed at Qin Feng. “Fine, just fine! You’ll pay for this. I won’t let you off!”
With that, Wang Teng fled the villa in disgrace.
Watching Wang Teng’s retreat, Bai Ruoxi couldn’t help but burst into laughter. She walked to Qin Feng’s side, gratitude shining in her eyes.
“Thank you, Qin Feng. If you hadn’t arrived in time, I don’t know what I would have done.”
“It’s nothing, really,” Qin Feng smiled, his heart softening as he gazed at Ruoxi’s tear-stained, delicate face.
“If Wang Teng ever bothers you again, just call me. I’ll deal with him.”
“Okay,” Bai Ruoxi nodded gently, her beautiful eyes flashing with a strange light.
After dealing with Wang Teng, Qin Feng didn’t rush to leave. He stayed and chatted with Bai Ruoxi, comforting her and helping her relax.
It turned out that after the elder Bai fell ill, many families began coveting the Bai family’s status. The Wang family, catching wind of this, offered help—but their condition was Bai Ruoxi’s hand in marriage to Wang Teng.
For the sake of his family, Bai Chongshan had reluctantly agreed to their demand.
“So that’s how it is,” Qin Feng said, his eyes flashing coldly. Clearly, the Wang family had been scheming all along, trying to seize the Bai family’s business under the guise of assistance.
“Qin Feng, what should I do?” Bai Ruoxi asked, her tear-streaked face evoking a deep urge in Qin Feng to protect her.
This woman, this face, this figure—she was a rare beauty. No wonder Wang Teng was obsessed.
“Don’t worry, Ruoxi. With me here, no one will hurt you,” Qin Feng said gently, reaching out to wipe the tears from her cheeks.
Bai Ruoxi shyly dodged his hand, lowering her head as a blush crept across her cheeks. “Thank you, Qin Feng, I…”
“No need to thank me. There’s no need for such formalities between us,” Qin Feng interrupted her heartily. “Besides, if you hadn’t helped me back then, I wouldn’t have been able to see my mother again. Helping you now is the least I can do.”
“But…” Bai Ruoxi hesitated, worry flickering in her beautiful eyes.
“No buts.”
